Compost Challenge Results

A year ago, we challenged Maryland Green Registry members to consider collecting food and yard waste for composting and to let us know about it. Eighty-five members told us they are collecting organic waste for composting either on- or off-site, amounting to more than 3.8 million pounds of material that is diverted from landfills and converted to a valuable product. While many Marylanders are composting at home, we know that collecting in the workplace presents a few more challenges, so we applaud these organizations for their efforts and hope others will join them.

Do you have an idea for next year's Maryland Green Registry contest? Let us know!
