Caboose

Wednesday 6:05 pm. Music is again filling Lion's Park. The first of six concerts - the Bo Hale Treatment - has Basalt rocking and will continue every Wednesday through August 12th with an eclectic line-up  of classic rock, Celtic bluegrass, motown and jazz from local and regional groups. Out the front door of the Caboose people of all ages wonder in from every direction with baskets of food and evening refreshments. Kids are climbing over the Caboose and passers-by shout greetings through the front door. The sky is clear, the temperature perfect and night young.

Up Midland Avenue both sides of the street are filled with cars... and it's only Wednesday night!

Basalt ARTWalk TONIGHT ~ New: Basalt Arts About Town

On Friday, the Basalt ArtWalk will pack the sidewalks and galleries throughout Historic Downtown. All the galleries are participating and shops and restaurants will be open late with live music and community fun.  Tania Dibbs is celebrating her move to Basalt with a Grand Opening from 5 to 7 and ribbon cutting at 5:30. Marc Sculco of Sculco Creative designed a poster for Friday night's event (click here to download).

There's a new vibration in the air, and it's all about art and mid-valley creativity. Today, two pencils appeared in Lions Park like projectiles from the sky, the first signs of Wyly Arts Center's creative pencil garden competition. A new Basalt Public Arts Council was recently formed. The Arts Center at Willits (TACAW) is moving forward exploring possibilities for a Performing Arts Center in the Willits Town Center. At Willits, long-time resident and gallery owner Gordon Keating returns to Basalt with a beautiful collection of artists in diverse media.  Last week Gordon, downtown gallery owners and the Chamber met to talk about the year ahead in art and entertainment and how we can bring business vitality into the mix.

Today, a new Facebook page was launched thanks to Eliza Rogan at the Wyly Art Center and support of our arts and vitality planning group. It's called Basalt Arts About Town. Take a look.

TwoRivers BASALT MAGAZINE ADVERTISERS & MEMBERS
Here's where your business is being seen!

The Basalt Community Guide & Business Directory is  now available at more than 300 locations throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and at Colorado State Welcome Centers More than 5,000 copies have already been distributed. Here is a partial list of locations.

As a marketing professional of many years, I would sometimes hear clients and associates say: "That ad didn't do me any good." It's not hard to track ad returns when there's a specific call to action or coupon. The general ex
posure ads are often harder to follow.

I'm delighted to be hearing from members who businesses appear in the new Basalt magazine that they're already receiving direct and very positive results from their ads.

Even more, the feedback about the magazine has been glowing from locals and visitors. If you haven't seen it yet, take a look around. As one of our Chamber Ambassadors says: "It's everywhere."

Businesses:  Please help us to keep the magazine within easy reach by re-stocking your supply. We've set up convenient locations where you can pick up magazines as needed.

The FISHING REPORT

On The Fly:
Still plenty of places to go

It should be of no surprise to any valley local or visiting tourist that our rivers are running high and discolored. Even the normally tame waters of the Fryingpan River are virtually devoid of anglers right now, with the lone exception being an area immediately below the dam dubbed as the "flats"... read the rest of the story here
