    Weather Conditions & Town Services
Who would have thought we would be typing this advisory in the DFW Metroplex with March arriving on Sunday?! None the less, we want to make sure our residents are aware of the information Town Staff learned from the National Weather Service today and our Public Works department.

Due the inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, Westlake Town Hall closed at noon today and Westlake Academy at 11:00 a.m. If you were planning to file for a Place on the Ballot for Council Member for the May 9th General Election by the deadline today, please call Town Secretary Kelly Edwards at 817.727.3572 and we will meet you at Town Hall to file the necessary paperwork.  The Secretary of State has advised that today's 5:00 p.m. deadline is a statutory deadline and cannot be extended due to weather.

The National Weather Service has indicate the snow will continue for the next few hours, becoming lighter and more intermittent this afternoon. Between 4 - 6:00 p.m., it is expected to change over to light freezing drizzle/rain and continue into the early morning hours Saturday. Travel is extrememly hazardous right now and is not expected to improve until mid-day Saturday due to rising temperatures.  Please - if you do not have to be out on the road, we encourage you to stay in.  Westlake Public Works have been out for the last few hours and will continue throughout the night, sanding/treating our intersections, bridges, and significnt hills and curves.

As for trash services, we are waiting for an update from our waste managment provider on their plan for the rest of the day. As of noon, they stated trucks were still out collecting and for residents to leave their containers out.  However with conditions worsening, we expect they may halt services soon and try again tomorrow and/or Monday.  Please check the Town's website and our social media accounts for the latest updates.
