Lincoln Park Village 6th Anniversary and Benefit:  An Important Event and a Great Party!

Dear Neighbor:

Another year in the life of the Village is in the books and everything is headed in the right direction with the sixth anniversary celebration and benefit the culmination of a great year and a success on every level: the party is getting rave reviews; the auction and raffle prize winners are pleased with their gifts and the Village has met its stretch fund-raising goals for the event. Grateful thanks to all who made this possible: event co-chairs Carol Rosofsky and Estelle Spector; auction chair Judy Bross; the host committee, the office team, the countless volunteers who planned and "manned" the event, and most especially to all those who donated items so generously to the auction.

This sixth anniversary had a special meaning to us all in an entirely new way.  When the Village celebrated its first year of operation in 2010 it was an important milestone - proof that the germ of an idea which had been crafted and nurtured since 2007 was viable and had definite possibilities.  Then last year, we celebrated another milestone - five years.  Who could believe that five years had already gone by? The Village had grown, was thriving and the possibilities, choices and services it offered its members were more interesting, more complex and more varied then we had dreamed.

Now along comes our sixth year - and as one year follows the next, the anniversary seems less of a milestone and more of an accepted certainty. The Village is now a valued part of members' lives; an integrated force in our neighborhoods and communities and a model for the future.  We no longer marvel that we made it this far - but celebrate that this unique social invention is here to stay and will continue to unlock the potential of older adults for all our years and beyond.
