All Henrico Reads Author Event on April 1

There are only 25 days until our seventh annual All Henrico Reads author event! This year's featured title, Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones is a great read and rich for discussion. There are several book discussions if you would like to attend one before Tayari Jones visits us on April 1. 
 

We hope you will join the community in hearing acclaimed author Tayari Jones discuss

Silver Sparrow, her career and much more. She will autograph books following the program.

Diaper Drive

Help keep babies healthy and happy!

 

We are accepting diaper donations at all of our libraries during the month of March. All of the diapers will go to the Capital Diaper Bank for distribution to "infants, toddlers and their families who are experiencing a financial crisis due to homelessness, medical challenges, hospitalization and disasters."

Avoid Common Garden Bloopers
North Park - Tuesday, March 10, 6:30pm
A speaker from the Virginia Cooperative Extension will discuss how to avoid common garden mistakes and will speak on topics like pruning, mulching and plant placement.


Jane Austen Tea
Tuckahoe - Saturday, March 14, 11:00am
Join us for tea and scones! In recognition of the 200th anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen's novel, Emma, Amy Stallings of the Jane Austen Society of North America Central Virginia Region will present highlights of Austen's life and work with a focus on Emma.

 


The Fall of Richmond
Varina - Monday, March 16, 7:00pm
A US Parks Service ranger will discuss the Confederate evacuation of the city of Richmond on April 2, 1865, a night of looting, fires and the Union's entry into the city.


Peeking into Richmond's Past
Twin Hickory - Thursday, March 19, 2:00pm
Harris Stilson was a Richmond streetcar driver whose camera never left his side. His great granddaughter, Kitty Snow, has written two books based on his photography collection and will share some of his photos and stories. 

Building Fun
Tuckahoe - Saturday, March 28, 2:30pm
Elementary aged kids will use their imagination and building skills to create fanciful structures from styrofoam packing materials.
