Grace Notes:

Waterworks

As we gathered for worship last Sunday, the baptismal font was at the center of our life together. This was especially evident when we welcomed new members through the rite of Affirmation of Baptism. Standing beside the water, we said: "Merciful God, we thank you for Rick, Satya, John, Nancy, Griffin, Trinara, Tom, Kathy, and Colleen, whom you have made your own by water and the word in baptism." When they had made their own confession of faith and renewal of baptismal vows, we then took water from the font and traced it on the foreheads of those being welcomed, saying: "Child of God, you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever."

Flower Chart

There is a Flower Chart and system for providing altar flowers each Sunday. We have contracted with a florist to provide the flowers at the nominal cost of $40 a week, delivered to the church. If you would like to provide your own flowers please provide us with a week's notice so we can have the florist hold the delivery for that week. We will have one bouquet on the left side of the altar area. You may sign up on the bulletin board near the office.

Peace and Justice

An Offer from Habitat of Humanity, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity has been blessed with an abundance of gifts and they want to share them with their faith partners. Presently, they have Hardie plank siding and Valspar exterior paint that can given to low-income homeowners who need new siding and don't have the means to buy these items themselves. If you know of someone in our congregation who would be a good candidate for this, please contact Pastor Ruud. It is also possible that we could put together a crew of volunteers who could assist with the project.

Thank you to all who donated items, helped organize and shopped at the Empowering Life's rummage sale at Peninsula Lutheran Church in Gig Harbor on July 10th and 11th.  The sale netted $2,400.00 which will help support pastoral care, life coaching, "Grief, Loss & Life Change" classes and other work at the Washington Correction Center for Women (Purdy) and Mission Creek Correction Center for Women in Belfair.  Unsold items were donated to Abraham's House in Port Orchard, the Rescue Mission in Tacoma, the Thrift Shop in Gig Harbor and Goodwill Industries.Besides raising money for this important work, the sale is a much-appreciated service to many in our area who cannot afford retail prices as well as those searching for previously loved treasures
