New Members Needed
Friends of WYFS

Friends of the Wayland Youth and Family Services is looking for new members for our parent education committee. Friends is a parent-led group that has been active in Wayland for many years. We collaborate with the staff of Wayland Youth and Family Services to provide educational programs for parents of Wayland and surrounding towns. Some of our past programs include presentations from experts on the following topics:

  • Wellness practices for children
  • Stress reduction for children and Families
  • Resilience in our children
  • Depression and mental health needs of our children
  • Sexuality development in children
  • Substance abuse prevention
  • Bullying

WCPA Big Kids Monster Mash
Saturday, October 24

Claypit Hill

Ghouls & Goblins, Witches on brooms, You are invited a party under the moon! Join us for a Halloween Monster Mash! Activities to include Halloween games,costume contests, dinner and dancing. Pizza, snacks and water will be served. This is a Big Kids event but all ages are welcome! Price is two dollars per person, with a $10 family limit. And don’t forget, fright costumes are a must on this night!

Are you curious about the Wayland Library’s warrant Article 6 at Fall Special Town Meeting? The Trustees are exploring ways to expand and renovate our building or build a new library at a different site. A focus of such an expansion would be on services to youth. Come take a behind-the-scenes tour of the library on the dates above and see some of the challenges for yourself. 3D Design with Tinkercad

Wayland Public Library

Artist Eric Carlsen will guide teens and adults through the process of creating their own 3D model using Tinkercad, an easy and fun 3D design tool. We will be printing out the creations on our 3D printer! Workshop attendance needs to be limited, so registration is required. Please register through the library’s online calendar at waylandlibrary.org. You MUST be 12 or older to register on your own, but we encourage parents of younger kids to register and design with their children.

The Wayland High School FIRST Robotics Club 5735, aka “the Control Freaks”, will show off their prize-winning robot at the Wayland Public Library parking lot from 10:30 to 12:30 on Saturday. Come and join us to see how a robot can lift and stack recycle bins and totes. Find out how they used 3D printing technology provided by the library to fabricate some robot components.

Calling all dads with daughters and/or sons in grades K-5! Come be a part of a long-standing Wayland tradition with the Father and Daughter/Son breakfasts. Father/Son breakfasts are held on the first Wednesday of the month while the Father/Daughter breakfasts are on the third Wednesday of the month - all at Mel's Commonwealth Cafe from 7:15 - 8:15. Each month features a great buffet breakfast, great fun and laughs with the kids, great conversation, and great raffle prizes.  Please email questions to [email protected].
