October 2015

Santa Fe TTN is organized and led entirely by volunteers.
Coo rdinator's Corner

Those of us
Jutta von Gontard
who know Jean Palmer, the founder of our Chapter, weren't the least bit surprised when she announced in late spring that she was training for a Triathlon to take place in Santa Fe in late summer.  If, like me, you're not all that familiar with the many ways people can test their discipline and endurance, a Triathlon consists of: swimming 200 yards, biking, 11.2 miles, and running 3 miles!  All that Jean did on Labor Day, cheered on by family and TTN friends. This is what Jean has to say:

"Doing my first triathlon at age 71 was really thrilling. The best thing was the support of my TTN friends and my own family cheering me on!  While it was hard, I completed it, came in third in my age group and plan to do another one in the future."

On behalf of all Santa Fe Chapter members: Congratulations, Jean!

And talking about energetic and committed leaders, the Steering Committee is pleased to announce that Kay Henriksen and Sue Fulton just joined the Steering Committee. Kay is the incoming treasurer, Sue is taking on the coordination of the program committee. Welcome Kay and Sue - we're thrilled to have you on board!
Monthly Meeting

The October meeting will be
Monday, October 26th  from 5:45-7:30pm

NEW LOCATION - Montezuma Lodge, 413 Paseo de Peralta - just to the left of the Scottish Rite Temple, plenty of parking. $3 suggested donation

October program:
CLOWN CHORUS/COMMUNITY SERVICE
PEER GROUP PRESENTATION

The initial idea for the Santa Fe Clown Chorus was sparked by Bettina Milliken, a Santa Fe Symphony member, who, for many years had a dream of having a chorus made up of volunteer clowns. A passionate circus lover, Bettina learned about the concept and traveled with Patch Adams with whom she spent time in Russia "clowning around" in hospitals, nursing homes and orphanages. Our purpose is to bring laughter, humor and smiles to ourselves and others. Singing is our way of sharing with communities how music can fill hearts with memories, joy, playfulness and healing. Come and sing along.

Linda McEnroe, Social Committee Coordinator, and Jean Palmer, Santa Fe Chapter founder, both active members of the Clown Chorus, will share their particular "brand of community service" and look
forward to an interactive and fun meeting on
Monday, October 26th.
Also included in our October program:
A P eer Group Advisory Committee Presentation
to provide information and answer members' questions about this TTN signature program.

Host Your Own TTN Events!
For three years, the Social Committee has arranged many events, including coffees, happy hours, and special trips to connect our members beyond the monthly meetings.
Something you would like to host? Hiking, art, theater? It's easy with MeetUp as a communications tool. The only requirement is that you host and manage the event that you start. Contact the coordinators, Ann Church or Linda McEnroe to get started.
