Here's What's Coming Up...

Raising the Roof...For the Next 100 Years
Construction continues at 609 Texas Street on the new Hope Cottage.  The grade beam is in and the foundation will be poured soon.  Here is a recent photo

A Little Bit About the Neighborhood...

We are thrilled to be building our new home in the neighborhood known as  the Wilson Historic District.

The Wilson Historic District is a nonprofit community owned and operated by the Meadows Foundation. The District was established in 1981 with a two-fold objective to restore and preserve some of the last Victorian structures in the city and to create a community of nonprofit agencies working collaboratively with one another.  Agencies who office in the District do so in rent-free office space. Today, the District encompasses 22 acres between Good Latimer and Skiles Streets and Gaston and Live Oak and provides homes for 39 nonprofit agencies in restored homes and new construction.

Hope Cottage has enjoyed a long relationship with The Meadows Foundation.  Meadows Foundation founder Algur H. Meadows served as Hope Cottage Board President in 1953 and 1954 and The Meadows Foundation has provided funding for many of Hope Cottage's programs through the years. We are thrilled the Meadows Foundation chose to sell Hope Cottage the last buildable lot in the Wilson Historic District and look forward to the day we move into our new home.
