Leadership Introduction
From Don Vawter, Kingman Advisory Chair

Don Vawter
Why give to United Way? What will I get in return? A number of years ago, prior to RCUW, I was asked to assist with forming an Allocations Committee, for the Kingman area.

That was the beginning of a long term relationship with United Way. I saw it transform from United Way of Southern Nevada into River Cities United Way

What I received in return was a conduit for giving to others, in a painless and organized manner, through United Way. Helping others was my goal. I was, and still am, employed by an organization, very dedicated to United Way, Mohave State Bank. They have allowed the time necessary to serve in many capacities, including my current term as Chairman of the RCUW Advisory Committee for Kingman. The pay is terrible, with the rewards extraordinary! Do I give as much time as I should, no. I, like most others in this organization, serve with numerous other organizations and committees.

This leads up to the need for additional volunteers to get involved with United Way, in some form, whether it be through giving, or volunteering. Our Allocations, Community Impact, Budget and Finance, and Marketing/ Resource Committees, all need members, as well as representation on the Governing Board, located in Lake Havasu.

Opportunities await, so get on board, the rewards are extraordinary!
Scarecrow Contest
River Cities United Way is participating in Lake Havasu Firefighter Charities 4th Annual Scarecrow Contest!

Each year businesses throughout Lake Havasu City build and display their custom-built scarecrow, and visitors to the business donate as a means of voting for that scarecrow.

River Scene Magazine has placed their Darth Vader Scarecrow inside the lobby of  River Cities United Way's Havasu Office located at 145 N. Lake Havasu Avenue (Fire Station #5), which is open Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.

In addition to the donations collected on-site which help support after-school and summer youth programs, Havasu Scanner Feed will donate $1 for every selfie taken with River Scene Magazines' Scarecrow.

Night Before Halloween Pre-Celebration
Friday October 30th "The Shops of Havasu" is hosting its annual Halloween Celebration.  Those 12 and under and their families are invited to join River Cities United Way and other local businesses and organizations to kickoff the Halloween season between 4 PM and 6 PM.
