March  2015

Dear Chamber Member:

Don't know about you, but Spring can't get here quick enough for me... I am just not a cold weather person!

Hopefully by now you have received a copy of the new 2015 Membership Directory

and a new 2015 cling on Membership Decal, complete with the new colorful logo!  We hope the directory is a useful tool for you to help support other fellow members by using their goods or services or referring others to them.  Also, we ask that you please  proudly display the decal in a highly-visible place within your business to show your support of the community as an elite member of the now Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce in Marshall County.

We also have NEW Marshall County maps available, so feel free to stop in and grab some, or call the office at  270-527-7665 and I will deliver some to you (weather permitting of course).  Again, I have to thank all of our map advertisers and our directory advertisers for helping to make both of these projects possible.

Respectfully,

Debbie

Lunch & Learn Held

Chamber and WK&T offer free training for small business owners

The Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce in Marshall County teamed up with West Kentucky & Tennessee Telecommunications, a local cooperative that provides cable, Internet and telephone services, on Wednesday, Feb. 4 to provide a free program to help small business owners increase their security while doing business online.

Matt Garrett, a lead service technician at WK&T with a B.S. in Telecommunications Systems Management and a Masters in Business Administration, hosted the workshop. Garrett offered his expert advice on identifying virus-causing programs like malware and spyware, what to do if a computer has been infected and safe online practices for businesses.

Guests enjoyed a complimentary lunch from the Chamber and walked away with a better understanding of how to keep their businesses safe from technological threats.

Be looking for information on other Lunch & Learn opportunities at the Chamber in the future.

News from the Kentucky Chamber

General Assembly Update

The Kentucky Chamber keeps a close eye on the action of our legislators during each General Assembly.  After missing a couple days last week for weather themselves, our Representatives and Senators are back and hard at it. The Kentucky Chamber identifies priority bills to support each session that they feel are in the best interest of the businesses of the Commonwealth and in like manner vocally oppose any that could hinder success of businesses. The Kentucky Chamber then follows these closely and use all means at their disposal to get their message out to the legislators

With time running out in the Kentucky General Assembly there are four items that the Kentucky Chamber would like you as business owners to consider weighing in on. They have created a quick and easy way for you to do so.  Just CLICK HERE to check out the four issues and take action on the ones you want to.
