Aspen Avionics Acquires Accord Technology and AvValues LLC
Aspen Avionics announced today that it has acquired Accord Technology, LLC (AT) from Accord India and AvValues LLC of Phoenix, Arizona. The acquisition has resulted in an expansion of the company's geographic footprint to include a new administrative and production facility in Phoenix, Arizona. John Uczekaj will continue to lead the company as president and chief executive officer. The name of the combined company remains Aspen Avionics. Accord Technology will operate as an Aspen Avionics company continuing to supply Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) -approved GPS solutions to the aerospace industry. Support of its current client base will carry on as usual with licensed production. "Accord's expertise to design and develop solutions that meet the NextGen and other performance-based navigation requirements, coupled with Aspen's display offering, the opportunity to create unique aerospace solutions for all aerospace segments are clearly on the horizon," said Uczekaj. FAA, EU Plan to Extend, Expand NextGen Pact
The Federal Aviation Administration and the European Union recently announced their intention to extend and expand their cooperative work toward providing seamless air traffic services for aircraft flying between the U.S. and Europe. FAA Administrator Michael Huerta and the EC's Director General for Mobility and Transport, Joao Aguiar Machado, signed a Letter of Intent on air traffic management modernization at a morning ceremony in Paris on June 18. The extension and expansion of the current agreement would help to ensure that passengers will enjoy safer, on-time flying over the Atlantic thanks to the benefits of NextGen and its European counterpart, the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR).  Worldwide GA Avionics Sales more than $587 Million in First-Quarter 2015 The Aircraft Electronics Association released its first-quarter 2015 Avionics Market Report. In the first three months of the year, total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales amounted to $587,100,212.92, or more than $587 million as reported by the participating companies. The figure represented a 9.9 percent decrease in sales compared to the first-quarter 2014 amount of $651,748,994.12, or more than $651 million. This year's first-quarter sales are more in line with the first-quarter sales of 2013, which totaled $586,006,894.49, or more than $586 million. More...  Fast Air looks Forward with new STC, new Market
At Fast Air in Winnipeg, Manitoba, avionics technicians finished wiring a Garmin G1000 avionics suite and a Garmin GFC 700 automatic flight control system on a Beechcraft King Air 200 equipped with an external cargo pod. A couple of years ago, the installation wouldn't have been possible. The project is part of a new supplemental type certificate Fast Air developed to overcome the avionics system's limitation with the belly-mounted carriers. The company received final Transport Canada approval in July 2014 and is awaiting Federal Aviation Administration approval in the U.S.

FREEFLIGHT SYSTEMS
announced that the company's certified ADS-B RANGR systems are now fully compatible with the ForeFlight Mobile app version 7.1 that was recently released. With the software update, users can now view ADS-B In weather and traffic data from FreeFlight Systems' RANGR series of ADS-B receivers via the ForeFlight Mobile app. Compatible solutions include the RANGR Blue Box Receiver and Transceiver, and the RANGR Lite Transceiver, which will begin shipping this month.
AVIDYNE received TSO approval and an AML-STC from the FAA for its new IFD440 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM. The IFD440 is the smaller-screen version of Avidyne's previously-certified IFD540. In addition, Avidyne received FAA certification of Release 10.1 software for the IFD540 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM systems.
ROBOTIC SKIES completed the first field installation of a GARMIN GDL 84 ADS?-B datalink solution into an unmanned platform. Garmin dealer KINGS AVIONICS of
Henderson, Nevada, a full-service Part 145 repair facility and Robotic Skies' founding
partner, performed the installation. The GDL 84 was installed into an Unmanned Systems
Inc. Sandstorm aircraft that is currently engaged in airspace integration testing
in Nevada, and operates under an experimental type certificate.
VIH AEROSPACE delivered its latest custom helicopter paint job on a Bell 205 for??????????? its U.S.-based customer Helimax Aviation on June 1. It also delivered an upgraded Airbus AS350 to Helimax Aviation on June 3.
SPIRIT AERONAUTICS installed a Steecon electric cabin door in a Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft, a first for the Challenger.
L-3 AVIATION PRODUCTS said its Display Systems business was awarded a contract to provide a CRT-to-LCD display retrofit upgrade to reduce CRT-related maintenance costs on ATR's fleet of 42/72 aircraft. As part of this retrofit upgrade, ATR will propose attractive solutions for equipment distribution and sale to customers in cooperation with L-3. In addition, L-3 Aviation Products said that Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. selected its Tactical Airborne Navigation System, TACAN+, for HAL's new Light Utility Helicopter program. And finally, L-3 Aviation Products is now offering an underwater locator beacon that is in compliance with the new 90-day operational standard published in TSO-C121b for all L-3 recorder products.
ALTO AVIATION launched a new website at altoaviation.com. The website was designed to provide users access to detailed product and audio systems information, as well as the option for a more interactive experience via incorporated social networking sites and the new ALTO Blog.
ROCKWELL COLLINS released its latest e-book titled "Harnessing the Power of Aviation's Information Age" in conjunction with the Paris Air Show. In addition, ALAFCO Aviation Lease and Finance Company, based in Kuwait, selected a suite of Rockwell Collins avionics, including MultiScan ThreatTrack weather radar and Multi Mode Receiver, for 85 A320 NEO aircraft.
HONEYWELL AEROSPACE said that Virgin Atlantic Airways will be the first airline to install its new flight management service to help airlines increase efficiency and improve fuel conservation. In addition, Honeywell Aerospace and Inmarsat successfully completed the first phase of hardware and satellite network flight tests for GX Aviation broadband services.
ESTERLINE CMC ELECTRONICS was awarded a contract by IOMAX USA Inc. to supply its Cockpit 4000 avionics suite for the fleet of 24 multi-role Archangel aircraft selected by the United Arab Emirates Air Force and Air Defence.
GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE CORP. said the Gulfstream G280 recently added to its growing list of city-pair records, this time linking Paris with Abu Dhabi. On April 24, the super mid-sized aircraft traveled from Paris-Le Bourget Airport to Abu Dhabi International Airport in United Arab Emirates. The distance of 2,908 nautical miles/5,386 kilometers was covered in 6 hours and 16 minutes at an average speed of Mach 0.82. In addition, IRA BERMAN, senior vice president, administration and general counsel, was named a Legend in Law by The Burton Awards Program, which is held in association with the Library of Congress and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association.
