Pilatus PC-24 Takes Off
The first flight of the PC-24 Super Versatile Jet took off from Buochs Airport on May 11. The maiden voyage began at 10 a.m. local time, and approximately 1,800 Pilatus associates witnessed the business jet begin a flight that lasted 55 minutes. According to Pilatus, the PC-24 twin-engine business jet climbed to 10,000 feet in approximately three minutes and followed a route from Altdorf to Brünig via Engelberg in central Switzerland. Three PC-24 prototypes will be built and used to complete a rigorous test program during the next two years. Certification and initial deliveries are planned for 2017.  ADS-B Around the Globe: Different Deadlines, Similar Challenges Author Dave Higdon takes a look at the subject of ADS-B across the globe in this month's Avionics News. He writes that on some levels, ADS-B progress abroad appears more rapid and robust than in the U.S. Nonetheless, some of the issues in the U.S. ripple through other regions, such as Australia, according to voices in its aviation community. The variety of deadlines and systems in use highlights the importance of learning what's required, by when and where. The spectrum ranges from mandates already in effect to where the mandate remains years into the future. Operations outside the U.S. are a mixed bag of ADS-B Out requirements, evolving standards or a wholesale lack of ADS-B requirements. More... |

Transport Canada Issues Advisory Circular for Parts Documentation Requirements
During the last several years, changes have been made to the civil aviation regulations, international agreements and policies within Canada and around the world. The complexity in regards to the requirements for proper documentation for new and used parts has increased, and the guidance material has not necessarily kept pace with these changes. The Transport Canada Civil Aviation has been working with its international partners to harmonize requirements as well as a new AC to provide the appropriate guidance. AC 571-04 was issued in February 2015 as result of this effort, and should provide the needed guidance for the Canadian industry to work with various suppliers and customers around the world.
