EFNJ Scholarship Program
scholarship

The Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey is now accepting applications for our annual scholarship program for New Jersey high school seniors who have epilepsy. We anticipate offering at least three $1,000 scholarships this year.

New Jersey high school seniors with epilepsy who plan to attend a college or university are eligible. Academic achievement, participation in activities and financial need will be considered. The extent of a student's disability(s) will be taken into account as well, so that s/he need not be near the top of her/his class to qualify. Final awards will be made by the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey, which reserves the right not to make any awards.

Scholarship Applications and supporting documents are due by May 1, 2015. Should you have any questions, please contact Andrea Racioppi at (800)336-5843 or by email at [email protected].

The 9th Annual National Walk for Epilepsy continued to bring attention to what Epilepsy is and is not. As we walked together April 11th at the National Mall in Washington D.C. we sent  a strong message to others across the nation that people with epilepsy are deserving of respect and are strong members of our community. Epilepsy deserves to be better understood!

The event was the biggest yet and to date over $ $900,000 has been raised. Thank you to the teams that have designated their funds to the Epilepsy Foundation of NJ .

Teens Speak Up Speak Out Conference a Success for EFNJ

Teens Speak Up! and the Public Policy Institute Conference took place April 12-14, 2015. Teens Speak Up! and the Public Policy Institute is the Foundation's centerpiece advocacy initiative. Every year affiliates across the nation come together and bring over 250 advocates, including Epilepsy Foundation affiliate staff, parents, teens, neurologists and volunteers from across the nation. Through this initiative, we are able to strengthen our advocacy network, share updates on the state of epilepsy research & funding as well as give our families an opportunity to speak with Congress and share their stories of living with epilepsy. Topics at this years conference included: Medicaid, CDC & NIH funding, and advances in treatments for epilepsy.

Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey is proud to recognize Raina Dhand of Sparta, NJ for her hard work on Capital Hill this week. Raina represented EFNJ as our teen advocate to raise much needed awareness about epilepsy. Raina shared her personal experiences as a young teen living with epilepsy with representatives from the offices of Senator Booker, Senator Menedez, and Congressman Frelinghuysen. Great job, Raina!
