Volunteers needed for FSGW Outreach to Retirement Communities.
Some members of FSGW's founding generation are now living in retirement communities where they hear the greatest hits of the 1940s nonstop. These are wonderful songs, but the members of our Board feel that our parents and friends in area retirement communities should have access to the wide range of music, song, dance and storytelling performances that FSGW members excel in.
We want to make the richness of our area's folk traditions available to our elders who can no longer travel to our events. To achieve this, we are working with area retirement communities to sponsor FSGW events on their campuses. Volunteers can help make this outreach project a success. We are looking for people to perform or tell stories or lead dances or song circles. Volunteering is a great way to refine your performance skills while giving back to the community. If you'd like to be on the list, e-mail [email protected]
