KCADV Programs Partner with Foundation for Financial Planning

Thanks to a grant from the Foundation for Financial Planning, KCADV programs are partnering with financial planners to provide financial education classes and individual counseling for survivors across the state. KCADV programs began offering group classes and individual coaching sessions to survivors in January, and sessions will wrap up in March. Volunteer financial planners offer classes and individual sessions covering a variety of topics, such as insurance, investments, and budgeting. Following a group session, one client shared, "This is the first time I heard about power of attorney and custody/guardianship issues. I now have an idea of how to plan for the future. This is something I never had before because I was just trying to survive from the violence." KCADV programs will receive mini-grants based upon the number of group and individual counseling sessions they are able to schedule with volunteer financial planners.

March Matchness!

Throughout the month of March, KCADV will receive $1 for every new follower on Twitter (@KCADVtweets). Our matching donors are Ken Draut and Kevin McNally. For every new follower on Twitter, they will donate $1 to KCADV's survivor emergency fund. Beginning March 1 make sure you encourage your family and friends to join KCADV on social media.

Save the Date!

KCADV will again partner with First Lady Jane Beshear, Girl Scouts, the Federation of Women's Clubs, the Kentucky Commission on Women, and Kroger, Food City stores, and Super Dollar Discount Food stores to hold Shop & Share. This one-day event allows volunteers to collect much-needed food and personal care items to be donated to the 15 domestic violence shelters that serve the Commonwealth. All Kroger, Super Dollar, and Food City stores are participating. Visit the First Lady's website (firstlady.ky.gov) to sign up for a chance to volunteer, or plan on sharing an item when you shop that day at your local store. For more information, contact Lisa Gabbard at 502-209-5382 or [email protected].

Martin Luther King Jr

Day of Service 2015

Each year AmeriCorps members across the nation come together for a day of service to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year's theme was economic opportunity, which is something KCADV's Economic Empowerment Corps does best!
