It is Time for the Holidays... Let's DREAM Big!

2014 has been an amazing year for DREAM. Our partnerships have expanded south to San Pedro de Macors with the RC22 Foundation, east to La Romana with Hogar de Nio, and west with Alerta Joven. Our progress has been honored through the Premio Brugal for Excellence in Education, the HBO Latin America Documentary "Sembradores de Optimismo: DREAM Project" and we hosted our biggest event yet in NYC, Sueos 2014. When you consider 100% of DREAM donations go directly towards programs, the more we dream big, the more lives we change. If you want to join us, please consider a Holiday Gift to fund Batey Caraballo Montessori Preschool by clicking here.
"My Very Own Library" for More Than 2,000 Youth

A culture of reading has been at the heart of everything we have done for the last two years, but our latest partnership with Scholastic Books, My Very Own Library and The Anne Feeley Foundation is revolutionizing literacy in the North Coast. On December 11th and 12th, we held the first in a series of children's book fairs featuring more than 27,000 books and setting up mini libraries in more than 2,000 local homes. Children chose their favorite books from an amazing selection of titles and learned about writing from guest author Ana Galn. They will receive follow up reading programs through our DREAM Public Libraries and Mobile Libraries and two more book fairs in the spring. It is time to read!
A Day in Paradise:
The DREAM Family Brunch

Our annual DREAM Family Brunch, organized by our volunteer Community Connection Committee, has become synonymous with family fun and responsibility. This is the one day of the year we all come together to celebrate our shared community through laughs, music, art, play, delicious food and the very best from our home. Thanks to all our guests, volunteers and donors, it was our best brunch yet, and 100% of the nearly $8,000 raised will go straight back into education for our local youth!
Deportes Para La Vida National Conference

This month, our Deportes Para La Vida national conference was held in Jarabacoa. DREAM's Executive Director, Catherine DeLaura, and Peace Corps Dominican Republic Country Director, Mary Latka, signed a five year agreement to formalize our continued collaboration in implementing this national initiative. We also celebrated the achievements of active coaches who completed at least three programs during the year. No other DREAM program has had a greater reach across the country. Thanks to DPV's national presence, sexual health and responsible decision-making is having a profound impact on the lives of more than 2,000 at-risk youth each year.
More Graduates, More jobs
More Change

We are so proud to announce our newest graduating class of A Ganar in Gaspar Hernndez! After more than 400 hours of theory, instruction, teamwork, internships, Customer Service and English, these little birdies are ready to fly! If you are looking for responsible, highly trained and motivated individuals in the area of customer service, click here and send us an email
Educated parents = Educated Kids

At DREAM, we put the early in Early Childhood Development, educating young parents with 2 year old children on how to begin learning at home, getting them ready for a life of high quality education. This month, we proudly graduated our first course in Sabaneta, Villa Progreso. This new generation of parents now have the tools to jumpstart learning at home and get our new students ready for their Montessori education.
DREAMer of the Month
Ysanet Bautista

We pride ourselves on having talented and dedicated volunteers, and Ysanet Batista is no exception. This year she has taught intensive English classes for A Ganar and adult community members, and launched a new Young Leaders class focused on issues of leadership and social justice. Students have the opportunity to apply knowledge to the real world and create real change in their communities. Ysa provides a fantastic example of leadership to her students!
