Abodeely Turns 75

In This Issue of The Shield:

Celebrating75Years
Thank you for putting your
trust in us for 75 years!

When Sally and George Abodeely, Sr. started the Abodeely Insurance Agency in 1940, they had a simple goal: to have a business of their own and make a living.  Since then, the business and work ethic has been passed down and the agency remains committed to providing the same service and attention to the insurance needs of our clients.  In a world of growing automation, although Abodeely has the latest technology, we pride ourselves on personally answering the phone and speaking to our clients.  You can visit us online or stop into any one of our 6 locations across Massachusetts and review things face to face.

NEW LAW EFFECTIVE April 7, 2015

This new law requires that you to turn on your headlights and tail lights whenever you turn on your windshield wipers.  The new law also requires you to use your headlights and tail lights when visibility is less than 500 feet.  Failure to follow the new law could result in a ticket AND an insurance surcharge. HIRING PEOPLE IN OR AROUND YOUR HOME
Are you at risk?

Have you ever hired a house cleaner, gardener or roofer?  What about someone to take care of your children or your invalid parent?  When hiring anyone who works for you or does work for you, you need to know if you are covered in the event of an injury.  Accidents happen.  Whether someone you've hired is injured, injures someone else or causes property damage, who is liable?  In many cases, the answer is you!

There are so many different scenarios that your best bet is to contact us first.  We can review your individual situation and let you know what your current coverage does and does not cover.

Cover Yourself!
They're not just for rain!

Umbrella insurance is a smart idea for both individuals and businesses.  Are your  current policies enough?  Bridging the gap by adding extra liability coverage can protect your assets from expensive lawsuits and it's more affordable than you think!

RENTERS
Beware!

Many people don't realize that 'homeowners insurance' is not just for a home owner. There is another tier of this insurance specifically for renters and it is much less expensive - plus most companies will give you a 'bundling' discount for having auto and 'home' insurance!  As they should, many landlords require their tenants to purchase this but if yours doesn't, you might want to anyways.  Read why you or even your child away at school should consider renter's insurance.
CertificatesofInsurance
CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE
A new law helps protect business owners.

In an effort to help eliminate or reduce requests for improper or misleading certificates, a new law applies specific requirements and extends the jurisdictional reach of the Commissioner of Insurance to third parties, who make such requests.

Specifically, the law that is effective April 7, 2015 prohibits a person from requiring the issuance of a certificate that contains false or misleading information concerning the underlying policy; purports to alter, amend or extend coverage.  Read More on this Law.
