WORD  AROUND THE CITY
Business Appreciation Week 2015!

REDI's  10th year of Business Appreciation Week in Rockville was a Huge Sucess!  Click the video below to see some of the companies we visited.

During the week of March 9-13, REDI board members and staff, along with the Rockville Mayor and members of the City Council, Rockville Chamber of Commerce board members and senior city staff visited with the leadership of 50 diverse Rockville companies as part of the 10th annual Rockville "Business Appreciation Week", (BAW).

During the wrap-up breakfast held March 20 at the Best Western Plus Hotel & Suites, many local business leaders mingled with many of the ambassadors who visited companies throughout the week, and local elected officials.

Some of the industries visited by the 43 Rockville "ambassadors" included the Technology, Financial, Professional Services, Retail, Construction and Hospitality sectors.  Of those businesses responding to REDI's survey during BAW, 75 percent said a Rockville location enhances their business; 72 percent reported an increase in revenue in 2014, and 72 percent expect to expand their programs and/or space in 2015.

Big thanks to all the companies and ambassadors who participated this year!

StartRight! 2015 is Almost Here!

It's that time of year again when the Maryland Women's Business Center's StartRight! Women's Business Plan Competition starts gearing up.

The StartRight! Business Plan Competition for Women Entrepreneurs was founded in 2004 by REDI to encourage and support women's entrepreneurship, and the Maryland Women's Business Center continues the legacy.

This year, StartRight! will award more than $13,000 in cash & prizes for winning business plans, with a top prize of $5,000!

To qualify, the business must be at least 51% women owned, less than 3 years old, and be a registered business in Maryland.

The women who participate in our competition receive more than the opportunity to win a cash prize - they also receive valuable coaching and feedback on their business plan!

The 2015 deadline for business plan entry is May 29.

Prizes will be announced and awarded at The Power Conference on September 3rd at the Montgomery County Conference Center/Bethesda N. Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.
