Fast Tracker Deadline Extended

FAST TRACKERS - The Registration Deadline has been extended to March 22, 2015!

Last year our Fast Trackers program was a resounding success for the 13 women who signed up to improve their golf performance.  Led by volunteer instructor Clare Payne, these sessions provided moral support and camaraderie while helping newer and returning players get more comfortable with basic rules, etiquette, posting scores, setting goals and practicing for maximum improvement.  This year's Fast Trackers will also include pay-at-the course 9-Hole Practice Play on the Haggin Oaks Arcade white tees.

FAST TRACKERS STARTS MARCH 23, 2015

A New Get Golf Ready Class...
Brand new golfers - it is not too late to get ready for the season.  We are starting a new 5-session class beginning April 4th.

This Week It Was All About the Rules...
by Del Sales-Owen
We had a great Match Play Rules Clinic on March 17, 2015 at Haggin Oaks.  John Nakamura, past NCGA President and Tournament Official went over the rules of match play and the differences between stroke and match play. The nine members who attended brushed up on the basics and picked up lots of new information.  It also helped the attendees put together strategies for the upcoming match play league. As, always John was stellar in his presentation.

Congratulations to the 2015 Graduating Class of Match Play University!

And Speaking of Rules Clinics...

We have two more coming up.  On April 7, John Nakamura will be covering the rules on Obstructions.  Come learn what they are and why you should care!

The final clinic on April 14 has a new topic - Water Hazards.  When it comes to the drink many of us need all of the advantages we can get - so here is your chance to learn the rules!

Monday After Work Play is Starting...
Monday after work play is about to get started!  For the time being play will alternate between Woodcreek and Sierra Pines.  Once in a while we may try to get out to Morgan Creek or Diamond Oaks.  Play will begin at 4:30 p.m. until days get a little longer and start times will be pushed out to 5 p.m. if needed to accommodate golfers needing later tee times.

The first fun play day is March 23 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Woodcreek.

Vicki Philpott is coordinating, so if want to play and haven't been in contact with her, you need to do so right away.

Big Break at Auburn Valley

AUBURN VALLEY

MARCH 14, 2015

TWO-PERSON SCRAMBLE

Those who didn't attend missed a great event.  Our very own Karen Garcia set up our Big Break competition again this year.  There were five stations with each worth 20 points.  There was putting, flop shot, bunker, short chip, and chip and run.  Guess who won again this year?  That darn Linda Reid with a total of 60!!!  Kris Corbridge was a close second with 58.  Linda won a round of golf for four generously donated by the course.

The game we played was a two-person scramble.  Everyone had a team handicap that was configured using EWGA championship guidelines.  There were 10 teams competing.  It's a bit hard to compete against Karen and Linda Reid, but we all tried our best.  Of course, they took the grand prize with a gross score of 68, but a net of 71 because they had to add strokes.  Pam Katros and Shelley Van Drimmelen

came in second with a score of 79.  Third prize went to Vicki Philpott
and Janet Cino  with 80.  Fourth place was held by Tyra Jarvis and her guest, Kelley Hansen .

EL MACERO COUNTRY CLUB

MARCH 16, 2015

17 members, one guest, and Stanley (pictured above), Marsha Suter's service dog in training, joined ex-EWGA member, Gwen Hare (also pictured above) at this beautiful private country club.  It was such a treat for those of us who were able to play.  Everyone raved about the course, even with all those bunkers!!!!

Our game was called Circle Nine.  You were able to pick your best nine holes out of the 18 and subtract half your handicap.  And the winner was:  Deana FrandsenTillie Melton and Lynda Lapp came in a tie for second.  Third place was won by Laura Maupin and fourth place went to Marsha Suter.

We are hoping to be invited back again, and we can have some more people join us for this special treat.
