Racetrack Ministry One More Way for Glenmarians to Serve
The September 2015 Boost-A-Month Club newsletter shares the story of two Glenmarians currently in full-time administrative roles at Cincinnati Headquarters----president Father Chet Artysiewicz and development director Father Don Tranel----who have been gladly serving in an extra, very different ministry on weekends since 2013.
In response to a bishop's request for help, they have been celebrating Sunday Masses frequently at two local horse-racing tracks for the faith communities there (with periodic assistance from a Glenmary senior member and other area priests). Father Chet says that the tracks "have a real feel of mission."
As missioners, the two priests feel called to continue reaching out to people in spiritual and material need and participating in pastoral ministry. And the man who coordinates the ministry to people at the tracks has said these Glenmarians have been "godsends."
Thank you for continuing to support Glenmary as its missioners answer God's call to serve and meet mission needs in many ways. God bless you!
