A COURSE IN MIRACLES
CH 29 "THE AWAKENING" III. "THE COMING OF THE GUEST"
12 It
has been hopeless to attempt to find the hope of peace upon a battleground. It
has been futile to demand escape from sin and pain of what was made to serve the function of
retaining sin and pain. For pain and sin are one illusion, as are hate and fear, attack and guilt but one. Where they are causeless, their effects are gone, and love must come wherever they are not. Why are you not rejoicing? You are free of pain and sickness, misery and loss, and all effects of hatred and attack. No more is pain your friend and guilt your god, and you should welcome the effects of love.

WHAT IS THE SECOND COMING?
Voice and Music by CIMS SonShip Radio
Christ's Second Coming, which is sure as God,
is merely the correction of mistakes
and the return of sanity. It is
a part of the condition which restores
the never-lost, and re-establishes
what is forever and forever true.
It is the invitation to God's Word
to take illusion's place; the willingness
to let forgiveness rest upon all things
without exceptions and without reserve.
It is this all-inclusive nature of
Christ's Second Coming that permits it to
embrace the world, and hold you safe within
its gentle advent, which encompasses
all living things with you. There is no end
to the release the Second Coming brings,
as God's creation must be limitless.
Forgiveness lights the Second Coming's way
because it shines on everyone as well.
*And thus is oneness recognized at last. *this line is not in Notes
The Second Coming ends the lessons which
the Holy Spirit teaches, making way
for the Last Judgment, in which learning ends
in one last summary which will extend
beyond itself, and reaching up to God.
The Second Coming is the time in which
all minds are given to the hands of Christ,
to be returned to Spirit in the Name
of true creation and the Will of God.
The Second Coming is the one event
in time which time itself can not affect.
For everyone who ever came to die,
or yet will come or who is present now,
is equally released from what he made.
In this equality is Christ restored
as one Identity, in Which all Sons
of God acknowledge that they all are one.
And God the Father smiles upon His Son,
His one creation and His only joy.
Pray that this Second Coming will be soon,
but do not rest with that. It needs your eyes
and ears and hands and feet. It needs your voice,
and most of all it needs your willingness.
Let us rejoice that we can do God's Will,
and join together in Its holy light.
Behold, the Son of God is one in us,
and we can reach our Father's Love through him.

DAILY LESSON
L e s s o n 304 Let not my world obscure the sight of Christ.
Voice and Music by CIMS SonShip Radio
I can obscure my holy sight, if I
intrude my world upon it. Nor can I
behold the holy sights Christ looks upon,
unless it is His vision that I use.
Perception is a mirror, not a fact.
And what I look on is my state of mind
reflected outward. I would bless the world
by looking on it through the eyes of Christ.
And I will look upon the certain signs
that all my sins have been forgiven me.
You lead me from the darkness to the light;
from sin to holiness. Let me forgive,
and thus receive salvation for the world.
It is Your gift, my Father, given me
to offer to Your holy Son, that he
may find again the memory of You,
and of Your Son as You created him

ACIM Edmonton - Sarah's Reflections
LESSON 304
Let not my world obscure the sight of Christ.
Sarah's Commentary:
With this Lesson,
"Let not my world obscure the sight of Christ," we can use it by substituting words, like "Let not this situation, this event, this feeling, this self-concept, this belief, this opinion or this thought obscure the sight of Christ." This covers a lot of ground with what is going on in our minds. We ask today, "Holy Spirit, please help me not to let my thoughts about this situation keep me from the love I am. I am willing to be wrong about the way I see this person or event. I am willing to be wrong about everything I believe or think about. Basically, I am willing to be wrong about anything unlike love that comes up in my awareness and obscures the sight of Christ, including everything in this illusory world of attack and separation."
The question is, "Do I want to hold onto my thoughts or do I want everything in my life to be used for the purpose of awakening?" Purpose is everything! If my purpose is to know my Christ Self, everything that shows up can be used for that purpose. There is nothing good or bad, right or wrong happening. There are no bad days and good days. All of it is helpful when used for the purpose of learning who we are. Jesus does not coerce us to accept what he is teaching. He is simply showing us the consequences of our thoughts and beliefs and inviting us to look at how we bring suffering into our lives. He is showing us how we can come to a realization of who we are so we can experience the joy and peace that lies beyond our thinking minds. While we can take as long as we want, he continues to urge us to choose to do the forgiveness work, and asks us to think about,
"How long, O Son of God, will you maintain the game of sin?
" (W.PII.Q4.5.1) It is up to us. We are not being coerced. As he says,
"You are free to determine who shall be your guest, and how long he shall remain with you."
(T.11.II.7.3)(ACIM OE T.10.III.22)
Undoing everything that obscures Christ's vision must become our goal if we want to know who we are. With the ego as the voice we listen to, we are basically only concerned with ourselves. We are the center of our world, using others to get our needs met. When we recognize that
"The ego rewards fidelity to it with pain, for faith in it is pain,"
(T.13.IX.2.3)(ACIM OE T.13.III.12) our allegiance to it will diminish. That is why Jesus goes to great lengths to demonstrate how belief in the value of attack brings that attack back at us. In other words, we are always hurting ourselves when we judge and attack others. When we want someone else to receive their just desserts, we are actually asking this for ourselves. Everything is our own mind reflected back at us.
"And what I look on is my state of mind reflected outward."
(W.304.1.4)
What we see with our eyes and hear with our ears makes the illusion seem real and solid. That is precisely what the senses were made to do. That is how the ego set it up, so we would never choose against it. It all starts with our thoughts. If we hold a belief in lack, we will experience lack in our lives. The evidence for it will be seen in not having enough. Our allegiance to our beliefs prolongs our suffering. Can a Son of God who has everything be lacking? The ego is committed to demonstrating this world as one of pain and misery. Yes, small pleasures are thrown in here and there but, ultimately, it is a world of suffering. All pleasures end.
When our thoughts and perceptions are healed, everything about our world will change. Difficult situations and difficult people just fall away. The things that did seem problematic to us before no longer matter because we see everything differently. Now we see the seeming attacks directed our way are just a call for love. That call is simply a brother who asks we see who he really is, beyond the seemingly attacking behaviors. To see in this way is to see with the eyes of Christ. It is to see with vision instead of judgment.
In the introduction to Chapter 21, we are reminded,
"Projection makes perception. The world you see is what you gave it, nothing more than that. But though it is no more than that, it is not less. Therefore, to you it is important. It is the witness to your state of mind, the outside picture of an inward condition. As a man thinketh, so does he perceive. Therefore, seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world."
(T.21.In.1.1-7(ACIM OE T.21.In.1)
The world reflects what is in our minds.
"Perception is a mirror not a fact."
(W.304.1.3) When we see through the eyes of Christ, we give only blessing to everyone and everything in the world. This is true perception. It is to see everything through the eyes of love and to overlook everything that is not the truth. To see the world through the eyes of Christ is to see everything as a reflection of truth. It means we must bring all of our judgments and misperceptions to the Holy Spirit for His reinterpretation. Then we will no longer see the world as a projection of our judgmental thoughts, our fears, our attacks, our false empathy and our needs, but instead as a reflection of the love in us.
This Lesson reminds us forgiveness is the means. As we bring our mistaken perceptions to the Holy Spirit, we are being led from sin to holiness. It is a step by step process, but it has already been accomplished because the Atonement Principle assures us, indeed, we cannot and have not changed ourselves. In essence, blessing goes out from our holy nature when the blocks to the awareness of love's presence are dissipated by the Holy Spirit, Who already knows that these block do not exist and have no substance.
"And I will look upon the certain signs that all my sins have been forgiven me."
(W.304.1.6) Thus, as our misperception of the world is healed, it will be reflected back to us as a forgiven world, where there is only love or a call for love.
"By their fruits ye shall know them, and they shall know themselves."
(T.9.V.9.6)(T.9.IV.30) When we make space for the blessing to shine through us, we receive it in that same instant. Thus, we come to know our own holiness, which is such a gift! Guilt is replaced with innocence, and we feel the holy presence in us, which is our true nature.
Sin is described in the Course as a lack of love. It is the home of illusions. It is insanity and a game with no substance. Jesus makes it clear that there truly is no sin. All we need to do is change our minds. We have forgotten who we are. As we bring our dark secrets, our shame and our guilt to the Holy Spirit and willingly release the thoughts of this world that obscure the sight of Christ, our awareness of the truth of who we are, as the holy child of God, returns. Now that truth is reflected in everything we see.
This takes us to the end of the journey, which is the experience of the Second Coming, and the total undoing of the dream.
"Forgiveness lights the Second Coming's way, because it shines on everything as one. And thus is oneness recognized at last."
(W.PII.Q9.2.3) The means to this awakening is through forgiveness.
"Let me forgive, and thus receive salvation for the world."
(W.304.2.2) When I hold onto a grievance against a brother, I am really saying, "I don't want to go home. I'd rather stay angry with my brother."
"Every attack is a step away from this, [peace]
and every healing thought brings it closer."
(T.11.II.1.2)(ACIM OE T.10.III.16)
Thus, we extend peace to our brother by bringing all of our grievances for reinterpretation, so we might see our brothers with the eyes of Christ. When we see the sameness of our brothers, it is a reflection of the Oneness we are. Differences affirm our separation. Forgiveness leads us from the darkness to the light, from sin to holiness. We can become a spotless mirror in the world where only love is reflected through our Being. Here the return of Christ is the return to the one mind that is all there is. The return of Jesus is not an event within time and space, but a realization, outside of this dream, that we all share the same Self.
Today, let nothing in your world obscure the sight of Christ by being willing to bring to the feet of truth all doubt thoughts, all worries, all plans, all concerns, and all thoughts that keep you prisoner to the world. Do not deny your thoughts and feelings or try to distract from them or do anything to mitigate them. Be with them by being willing to look at the beliefs that are there and the story around them, which is never the truth.
Today we look past all illusion and affirm the truth of who we are, as perfect, whole, and complete as created by God. Today I look at my mind and see distress about a situation where I feel wrongly accused. I affirm I will not let his situation obscure the sight of Christ. I am willing to rest the story and release the feelings I am experiencing about this person, so I can receive salvation for the world.
"It needs your eyes and ears and hands and feet. It needs your voice. And most of all it needs your willingness."
(W.PII.Q9.5.2-4)
My wrong perception is obscuring the Christ in me. What I see is only my perception, which is a mirror of my own thoughts and never a fact. The ego argues this point vehemently, but if we stubbornly side with it, we keep ourselves in our self-made hell. We have a way out, and the way out is to look at our thoughts and feelings honestly, take responsibility for them, and be willing to turn them over to the Holy Spirit. Hanging onto them keeps us from experiencing the miracle and keeps us from the peace we say we want.
Love and blessings, Sarah

TEXT Paused for Weekend
Chapter Twenty-Nine
III. The Coming of the Guest
10 Why would you not perceive it as release from suffering to learn that you are free? Why would you not acclaim the truth, instead of looking on it as an enemy? Why does an easy path, so clearly marked it is impossible to lose the way, seem thorny, rough, and far too difficult for you to follow? Is it not because you see it as the road to hell instead of looking on it as a simple way, without a sacrifice or any loss, to find yourself in Heaven and in God? Until you realize you give up nothing, until you understand there
is no loss, you will have some regrets about the way that you have chosen. And you will not see the many gains your choice has offered you. Yet though you do not see them, they are there. Their
cause has been effected, and they must be present where their cause has entered in.
11 You have accepted healing's Cause, and so it must be you are healed. And being healed, the power to heal must also now be yours. The miracle is not a separate thing which happens suddenly, as an effect without a cause. Nor is it in itself a cause. But where its cause is must it be. Now is it caused, though not as yet perceived. And its effects are there, though not yet seen. Look inward now, and you will not behold a reason for regret but cause indeed for glad rejoicing and for hope of peace.
12 It
has been hopeless to attempt to find the hope of peace upon a battleground. It
has been futile to demand escape from sin and pain of what was made to serve the function of
retaining sin and pain.
13 Your Guest
has come. You asked Him, and He came. You did not hear Him enter, for you did not wholly welcome Him. And yet His gifts came with Him. He has laid them at your feet and asks you now that you will look on them and take them for your own. He
needs your help in giving them to all who walk apart believing they are separate and alone. They will be healed when you accept your gifts, because your Guest will welcome everyone whose feet have touched the holy ground whereon you stand and where His gifts for them are laid.
14 You do not see how much you now can give because of everything you have received. Yet He Who entered in but waits for
you to come where you invited Him to be. There is no other place where He can find His host nor where His host can meet with Him. And nowhere else His gifts of peace and joy and all the happiness His Presence brings can be obtained. For they are where He is Who brought them with Him that they might be yours. You cannot see your Guest, but you
can see the gifts He brought. And when you look on them, you will believe His Presence must be there. For what you now can do could not be done without the love and grace His Presence holds.
15 Such is the promise of the living God-His Son have life and every living thing be part of him, and nothing else have life. What
you have given "life" is not alive and symbolizes but your wish to be alive apart from life, alive in death, with death perceived as life, and living, death. Confusion follows on confusion here, for on confusion has this world been based, and there is nothing else it rests upon. Its basis does not change, although it seems to be in constant change. Yet what is that except the state confusion really means? Stability to those who are confused is meaningless, and shift and change become the law on which they predicate their lives.
16 The body does not change. It represents the larger dream that change is possible. To change is to attain a state unlike the one in which you found yourself before. There
is no change in immortality, and Heaven knows it not. Yet here on earth it has a double purpose, for it can be made to teach opposing things. And they reflect the teacher who is teaching them. The body can
appear to change with time, with sickness or with health, and with events that seem to alter it. Yet this but means the mind remains unchanged in its belief of what the purpose of the body is.
17 Sickness is a demand the body be a thing that it is not. Its nothingness is guarantee that it
can
not be sick. In your demand that it be more than this lies the idea of sickness. For it asks that God be less than all He really is. What, then, becomes of you, for it
is you of whom the sacrifice is asked? For He is told that part of Him belongs to Him no longer. He must sacrifice your self, and in His sacrifice are you made more, and He is lessened by the loss of you. And what is gone from Him becomes your god, protecting you from being part of Him.
18 The body that is asked to be a god will be attacked because its nothingness has not been recognized. And so it seems to be a thing with power in itself. As something, it can be perceived and thought to feel and act and hold you in its grasp as prisoner to itself. And it can fail to be what you demanded that it be. And you will hate it for its littleness, unmindful that the failure does not lie in that it is not more than it should be but only in your failure to perceive that it is nothing. Yet its nothingness is your salvation, from which you would flee.
19 As "something" is the body asked to be God's enemy, replacing what He is with littleness and limit and despair. It is His loss you celebrate when you behold the body as a thing you love, or look upon it as a thing you hate. For if He be the sum of everything, then what is not in Him does not exist, and His completion
is its nothingness. Your savior is not dead, nor does he dwell in what was built as temple unto death. He lives in God, and it is this that makes him savior unto you, and
only this. His body's nothingness releases yours from sickness and from death. For what is yours cannot be more nor less than what is his.
