Congratulations Matt!

Congratulations Matt!

You may have noticed the sign in the cafeteria, or perhaps Matt Hamilton handed you his business card with his logo and number.

Congratulations go out to Matt. He is now an entrepreneur.

Matt started his own vending machine business Matt's Snacks On The Go on June 1. Matt will be taking over the vending machines owned by Greg Prater. Matt will be working with Earl Haines, supplying his vending machines with yummy snacks.

We wish Matt well in his new business endeavor and thank Greg for his many years of keeping us here at The Arc in snacks and drinks.

Way To Go JoAnn!

Congratulations to JoAnn DiPietro who was recently honored at The Maryland Association of Community Services reception at the BWI Marriott.

JoAnn received the MACS Achievement award. She was nominated by Shelba Uhrin, program coordinator for community employment.

Shelba wrote that even though JoAnn is eligible to retire she continues to work as part of an Arc enclave at BG&E. JoAnn has worked at BG&E for 20 years and has grown in her job. She is reliable and always on time.

JoAnn is one of about 80 individuals The Arc Carroll County has placed in paying jobs at 70 local businesses in the community.

From Charles' Notebook

Reasons to Become a Member of the Arc Carroll County

By Charles Rachel

By becoming a new or sustaining member of the Arc Carroll County, you are helping to ensure that we can continue to provide the great programs and services our families and staff has come to know, love, and expect from the Arc.

I have been a client at the Arc Carroll County since October of 1997. I enjoy the social interaction with friends and co-workers.

Some of the clients even have jobs in the community, while others participate in other fun activities in the community.

Without your support, many of the people we serve would be stuck at home and would not feel like an important part of their communities. We greatly appreciate the support that our community can give. Please visit us online at www.arccarroll.com for more information and join today!

Charles Rachel has been coming to The Arc for many years. For the last two years, he has written a feature for our newsletter. Charles also serves on our board. We are glad to have Charles back!

Do you have a 40-inch         flat screen TV?

The Arc Carroll County's life skills instructor is in need of a 40-inch flat screen TV with an HDMI hook-up.

Many individuals in our life skills classes have difficulty reading, but learn best visually.

Our life skills instructor would like to be able to show the individuals in his classes PowerPoint presentations and instructional videos. This is the best way to reach individuals and show them the skills they will need and use throughout their lives.

Can you help us? If you have a new or gently used 40-inch flat screen TV with an HDMI hook-up our life skills teacher will be able to connect his laptop to the TV and teach our individuals the way they learn best: visually.

Please contact Sharon Smith at [email protected].
