The Art of the Publishable Personal Essay
with Marcelle Soviero
We will look at the art of crafting the personal essay, with an emphasis on building a narrative arc that fulfills the essay's purpose: to arrive at an enlightening conclusion. We will discuss the narrative persona, the issue of "situation vs. story," defining the essay angle, and examining the story question. All techniques are designed to help participants write essays suitable for publication.
