We are newly energized now that the snow has melted and spring is finally here!  We are so excited by the success of our new Coping & Calming Club and are looking forward to our new self-esteem program, Personal Power & Kindness Club starting May 15th.  We have so many events coming in the next month that here is a list in order of occurrence (more details are below):

Simply Social Kids coaches children ages 5-17 on how to make and keep friends.  Our innovative, non-clinical approach is extremely effective in teaching kids how to form meaningful friendships that last.  Kids come weekly to play and hang out.  We do the rest.

   Parents and professionals are invited to attend and learn more about our social education programs!

Personal Power & Kindness Club

Personal Power - their choices make them powerful.  They will examine feelings and how to manage very strong feelings while gauging their reactions to situations.

 

Stick Up for Themselves - kids will learn how to stick up for themselves in a productive, friendly manner.  They will be given language to use and practice through role playing.

 

Random Acts of Kindness - practicing random acts of kindness is an excellent way to promote self-esteem.  Kids will have weekly kindness tasks.

Fuel family wellness with Stow & Go Power Snacks.  Join Norah, certified nutritional counselor, social worker and mother of 5 as she shares simple tips for a family fuel makeover!  Learn the basics of valuable foods to have in your pantry, food that promotes positive mood and brain development, as well as foods to reduce/ eliminate from your diet. Some of her favorite nutrition and recipe books will be available for purchase that evening as well. Bring a friend!

S ibshops - 4 SESSIONS 
May 9, 16, 30 and June 6 
Note: Sibshop location is LifeLinks in Chelmsford, not Simply Social Kids

For siblings ages 8+ who have brothers & sisters with special needs 
Come to one or come to all! Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is for some a good thing, others a not-so-good thing, and for many, somewhere in between. At these awesome events, Sibshops facilitator Nadine Briggs will have the kids playing games, making friends, and talking about being a sibling of child with special needs.

 

The Sibshops events are for siblings without special needs ages 8 and older. Children must be able to safely participate in a large group with only one staff.


We need a minimum of 6 siblings to run each workshop. Registration is required.

DATE: Saturdays:  May 9th, May 16th, May 30th, and June 6th

Summer Fun & Friendships: Maintaining the Connection

The Summer months can be long and difficult for those who have trouble socially. Parents can do much to support friendships that were made during the school year and even find some new buddies during the summer vacation. This seminar will provide many tips and social opportunity ideas.

Coping & Calming Club:

In the Coping & Calming Club, kids will learn:

Coping Skills - kids will learn to understand what causes anxiety, how it manifests in thoughts, feelings and behavior and they will learn powerful strategies to manage stress.  

Mindfulness - Kids will begin to understand how to calm their minds and bodies by learning mindfulness techniques.
