A very proud Muslim, She wants to show the world that Muslim women are just as beautiful, dynamic and powerful just like every woman and she is proud to represent Muslim women. We also recognize her for her commitment and service at University of Utah where she works had to ensure that ethnic minorities are admitted into the University to promote diversity. She is very beautiful, lovely personality. She represented the great nation of Somalia last year at the Miss Africa USA Pageant and was crowned Miss Congeniality because she was loved by all and always goes out of her way to help others. We are Proud of Miss Jawahir Ahmed.

awahir Ahmed is former Miss Africa Utah 2013 and current Miss Somalia USA 14-15. Miss Ahmed is a recent graduate of Utah State University. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion with an Emphasis in Health Sciences. Jawahir currently works at the University of Utah Main Hospital as a Psychiatric Technician for an inpatient medical psychiatric unit. Miss Ahmed also participated in Miss Africa USA as Miss Somalia. She was the first Miss Africa Utah to ever participate at a national level. At Miss Africa USA Jawahir placed in the top 10 and won Miss Conginialtiy.
She advocates for woman who choose to wear head scarves. Whether it's for religious purposes, or personal preverence. Allowing those around them to seek the beauty on the inside, rather than the outside. Choosing to cover her hair in the majority of her pageant attires. Because of this, she was invited as an observer judge at the Miss Muslimah World Pageant 2014 this past November in Indonesia. Jawahir was asked to represent Miss Africa USA at the World Muslimah Awards.
Another passion of hers has been to advocate for those whom have mental health disorders. Somalis have a large pertence of their community that have underlying mental health issues. Jawahir uses her voice bring this issue to light. Miss Ahmed has also worked for AmeriCorps, America Reads and VISTA as a volunteer and mentor. Teaching students all over Utah how to prepare for undergraduate school by conducting college preperation courses. While in college, Miss Ahmed was also an ambassador at her school. Recruiting students of diverse backgrounds to attend Utah State University.
