Greetings!

This issue of our CRT newsletter provides you with information regarding the Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) that will go into full effect 1 June 2015. Global Harmonization is an important step in providing a foundation for all countries to develop comprehensive national programs to ensure the safe use of chemicals. As many of you know, Carus is a chemical manufacturer providing environmental solutions for remediation. What many of our remediation customers do not know is that we manufacture phosphates that can also be used at remediation sites. The use of phosphates in conjunction with permanganate can minimize/inhibit manganese dioxide formation - see article below. Also included in this issue is a case study for IXPER 70C Calcium Peroxide. Thanks for reading!

SITE SUMMARY

Contaminated soil and groundwater were characterized at a former truck shop in central Oregon.  Findings from the investigations indicate that elevated concentrations of petroleum-contaminated soil were located beneath the former shop area. A work plan for site work at the former truck shop was submitted and approved by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality in August 2011.  The selected remedy at the site called for excavation of the soils in the shop area followed by enhanced biological treatment of the soils using IXPER 70C Calcium Peroxide...view more.

TECHNICAL CORNER
