BUILDER ALERT
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Annual Builder Attestation for ESNH

Effective immediately, all builders building ENERGY STAR qualified homes under the ENERGY STAR for New Homes program will be asked to sign an annual attestation that non-visual components in the home meet the requirements laid out in the ENERGY STAR for New Homes Standard. The Builder Attestation has been developed to address technical requirements under the ENERGY STAR for New Homes Standard that are not visible to the Energy Advisor during the as-built evaluation.

* The Builder Attestation must be kept current. Once signed, it is effective for one year from the date of signature.

* Annual attestations must be signed by a senior representative for the company as a whole.

* The builder may also attest to the ENERGY STAR qualification of homes by development. In this case, the attestation may be signed by the Site Manager, and is considered current solely for that development.

To obtain a copy of the attestation requirements, click  here.

For more information or to submit your attestation letter, please e-mail christephanie@enerquality.ca

From left to right: CEEA's Elizabeth McDonald, President and CEO, Carol Buckley, Director General, Office of Energy Efficiency, Energy Sector, Natural Resources Canada and past past CEEA Chair Andrew Pape-Salmon of RDH Group.

It was a wonderful affair on May 20th at the Intercontinental Hotel  in Toronto as EnerQuality co-founder and shareholder, Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance, celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a tribute to industry champions Bruce Campbell, President and CEO of IESO, Allan Crandlemire, CEO of Efficiency Nova Scotia, and Carol Buckley, Former Director General of Energy Efficiency at NRCan.  President Elizabeth McDonald provided a warm welcome to attendees who were instrumental in the success of energy efficiency, some from its earliest days, as she outlined CEEA's exciting plans for the future.  Check out their blog at www.energyefficiency.org.

EnerQuality congratulates Greater Ottawa Home Builders' Association on a Fabulous Building Innovation Forum!

Ross Elliott, Homesol Building Solutions.

We were proud to sponsor GOHBA's Building Innovation Forum May 21st at the Centurion Event Centre in Ottawa.

This exciting event covered topics such as EnerGuide Updates from NRCAN, prefabricated insulated wall panels, construction research from Algonquin College, and a keynote speech from trend analyst Cheryl Grant.

A special thanks to two time EnerQuality Evaluator of the Year Ross Elliott, who provided an opportunity for attendees to get more information on the R-2000 program, which has renewed resonance as it pertains to Net Zero Energy, and to Natalie Armstrong from Enbridge Gas Distribution who, as a longstanding EnerQuality Partner, made opening remarks on our behalf.

Thank you to the always-stellar team at GOHBA for continuing to champion innovation in our industry!  Upcoming events are being planned by GOHBA. Click HERE to visit the GOHBA website for details.

Stay tuned on EnerGuide Updates from our team, and from NRCAN.

Spring Training Camp Shines with Leading Building Scientists

EnerQuality attended the two day building science workshop at Hidden Valley Resort in Muskoka hosted by John Straube and EQ Hall of Fame Award recipients Tex McLeod and Gord Cooke.  Sam Rashkin, whom some may recall from the EQ Housing Innovation Forum last February, kicked things off and took us all on an inspiring journey which ended at Net Zero Energy and the importance of effective marketing and sales. Presenters included Graham Finch of RDH Building Engineering,  Chris Schumacher of Building Science Labs, and Dr. Chris Timusk of George Brown College.  It was great to see many familiar faces, and some new ones, united in our common goal of advancing the industry.

It's not too late to register for tomorrow's EQ ENERGY STAR for New Homes Marketing & Selling workshop on June 2nd in Toronto, featuring Gord Cooke. Click HERE to register.
