Introduction to Grant Seeking for Individuals Monday, April 13 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Did you know that the library has access to information on 100,000 grantmakers and 2.3 million grants? Grant funds for individual endeavors such as education, research and artistic pursuits are not that easy to find. Attend this class to learn about the Foundation Grants to Individuals database, GrantSpace.org and other helpful resources. A working knowledge of the Internet and Windows are needed for this hands-on session. Space is limited to 10 people and preregistration is required. The Art and Science of Winning Grants Friday, May 15 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Location: Community Room Learn the basics of preparing grant proposals to foundations and corporations or sharpen your intermediate grant proposal writing skills through a step-by-step approach to the process. From developing the proposal idea to completing the details of the budget, this fast-paced workshop provides an outline to use to prepare clear, concise, comprehensive, and competitive proposals. The topics covered include: understanding the grantseeking process, the art and science of designing winning proposals, preparing well-written proposal components, and learning the protocols associated with grantmaking. Diane Gedeon-Martin, President of The Write Source, is a nationally recognized consultant and respected instructor in the area of grantseeking for nonprofit organizations. Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, she spent 15 years in corporate marketing with Fortune 500 companies. In 2001, she joined the faculty of The Fund Raising School at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University where she not only teaches Preparing Successful Grant Proposals but also co-developed the curriculum for the course. She is currently on faculty with the Connecticut After-School Network, the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits, and the AFP Connecticut Chapter for their Principles of Fundraising workshop series.
