Construction Update:

Plans are moving ahead at Lakeside Elementary with the new portable classrooms - which means the playground will be closed from June 8th until August 21st due to the construction equipment on site. All Kids Club classes will be held at the Primary School.

Olinda Trail will be under construction around the high school - resurfacing, working on curbs, and adding a much-needed left turn lane on the south end. Could make for some delays before the end of the school year.

Transition Days for 5th and 8th graders
Each year 5th graders from Taylors Falls Elementary and Lakeside travel to the middle school to get the lowdown on being a 6th grader.  They get the opportunity to return to the middle school in the evening for a 5th Grade Fun Night.

More busses take 8th graders over to the high school to introduce them to some of the new opportunities they will encounter in high school. Before school starts, newly minted 9th graders will come the week before school starts  and participate in Link Crew activities that will make the transition easier.

Upcoming Events:

June 2: High School Graduation Class of 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the main gym

June 13: ACT test date

June 14: White Christmas cast performs at the Orpheum for the Spotlight Musical Theatre Program

Well, we have reached the end of the 2014-2015 school year. Our last newsletter of the school year is full of news - construction, transitions, graduation, and musicals - and that's just the teachers...On May 22nd's Staff Day, we celebrated with teacher recognition of years of service and a few retirements - we even watched the year go by on video. We'll be taking a break for most of the summer - breaking in with big news events and making sure you and your family have what you need before school starts again in the fall.  We hope you have a wonderful summer, full of all of your favorite things!

Retirements and Recognition of Years of Service

CLSD employees gathered on May 22nd to celebrate milestones for teachers, paraprofessionals, office staff, and others across the district - including the superintendent who is celebrating 35 years with the district. Articles on retirees appear in the last District publication (alongside the Community Education catalog) landing in your mailboxes. You can also see the presentation and additional pictures from the day...

Middle School Gets 3D Printer for PLTW
With the help of donations, the most recent of which was a $500 check from the Chisago Lakes Rotary, CLMS was able to purchase a 3D printer for their Project Lead the Way (PLTW) classes.

Additional donations came from Polaris ($500), Plastic Products, Inc. ($1000), General Mills ($176.16), and Target ($445.64).

PLTW classes start in the middle school (6-8 grade) and the program continues and expands in the high school.  Ed Wakefield and Scott Frischmon teach PLTW at the middle school.  More pictures...
