A Message From Gail Bonneville

Dear readers,

John Gilstrap tells me that he's been receiving many emails from you asking about my welfare.  How sweet.  It's equally sweet of Digger and Mr. Gilstrap to give me this opportunity to speak to you directly through Digger's newsletter.  Cutting to the chase, I'm fine.  But I believe my shooting days are over.

The events that Mr. Gilstrap chronicled in the book Damage Control left me pretty battered.  I won't go into all the details, but recovery took time.  Digger saw to it that I got all the best treatment.  I could not have asked for more.  I will always love him for that.  I will always love him for a lot of things, but it's pretty clear that any ongoing romance isn't in the cards.  I'm sure you understand.

He's still my boss, though.  I'm now the chief case manager for the overt side of Security Solutions, running as many as five ongoing investigations at a time, and supervising others.  I do my best not to notice when Digger disappears for days or weeks at a time, but the truth is, I can't un-know what I've witnessed him doing, and when he's not around, I do worry about him.

Thanks again for caring.

Jonathan Grave here, shilling for Gilstrap's new book.

In about four weeks, my buddy John Gilstrap is going to release his book about me and my team's latest adventures.  He's calling it Against All Enemies, and while he always makes me more of a hero than I really am, the operation he reports on in the book was one hell of a mess.  You might remember Boomer Nasbe from a previous book called Threat Warning.  Well, when my old buddy (not!) Roleplay Rollins told me that Boomer had killed a bunch of CIA pukes, I confess that I wasn't all that surprised.  (I've considered killing one or two of them myself over the years--and had to stop Boxers more than once from actually doing it.)  But then when Rollins told me that Boomer was leaking classified information to the enemy, I didn't believe it for a minute.  We looked into it, and when we found out what the real problem was--a plot at the top levels of the Pentagon to stage a coup against President Darmond--things got interesting.

We all know that Gilstrap gets pissy if I don't shill, so if you're interested in pre-ordering the book, please click here   Or here .  Or here .

Gilstrap's Hosting A Party and You All Are Invited!

Gilstrap and I were spitballing ideas a while ago about where he should hold the launch party for Against All Enemies.  He didn't want anything fancy, but he wanted it to be a way for friends and fans to have a good time, buy a few books and get them signed.  He tells me that most of his friends consider alcohol to be an essential food group, so we knew it had to be a place where attendees could buy beer or wine.

Then it hit me!  The Vienna Inn, on Maple Street in Vienna, Virginia.  If you've read our stories, then you've already been there--though Gilstrap calls it the Maple Inn for the books.  It's a place with lots of personality, a spooky history, and you can buy the best chili dogs in the world.  So, if you're in the neighborhood, stop by and meet John Gilstrap.  I may or may not be there, but if I am, you won't know it.  Here are the details:

My Challenge Coin

It's a long-standing tradition among military, police, firefighters and other close-knit groups to design a commemorative coin.  The coins are distributed as a way of saying thanks, or of showing respect.  I've designed one for myself and my team at Security Solutions.  As you can see below, one side features the company's logo, and the other features the faceless heroes who have allowed me to stay alive as long as I have.  The inscription--"On the Side of the Angels"--says it all.

The primary purpose for the coins is for John Gilstrap and me to give thanks to the many professionals and subject matter experts who help to make the books as good as they possibly can be.    But I recognize that readers and fans might like one as well, so there are a couple of ways for you to get a coin for yourself:

1. Coin-for-coin trade.  You know who you are.  You've got your own unit coin.  Contact me at [email protected], and we'll trade addresses.  Your coin for my coin.

2. Bring five or more of our books to John Gilstrap at a conference to be signed, and he'll hand you a coin for your collection.
