HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT
HEALTH COVERAGE

As you might know, Child Action, Inc. has been working with Covered California, the state's online marketplace for quality, affordable health coverage. To continue building on the early success, Covered California is developing a communications campaign to help spread the word about the Affordable Care Act and encourage people to sign up for health coverage through Covered California.  As part of this effort, they are looking for people who are enrolled in a plan and would be willing to tell their story about how they benefited from having health coverage.

Through these videos and stories, Covered California would like to shine a light on the role of health care in our lives - and encourage more Californians to "GET COVERED."

If you are interested in participating, please contact Yuliya Andreyeva from Covered California at [email protected] as soon as possible. Be sure to provide your name and phone number. If you don't mind sharing, please also include your age, city of residence, any languages spoken and how you have benefited from your health coverage.

After reviewing the responses, Covered California will set up a time to talk. Their team will work with select candidates to tell their stories.

PLAYGROUND SAFETY

Playgrounds are a popular place in summertime! Hours are spent, running off energy, socializing, and enjoying the outdoors. While playgrounds are lots of fun, they can present serious hazards to children. Statistics from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) show that 67% of playground injuries for children age 0-6 involve falls or equipment failures. So how can parents and caregivers ensure children are protected? Here are some suggestions from the CPSC:

  • Actively supervise children using play equipment. By avoiding distractions like calls and texting, adults can react to situations before they become injuries.
  • Look at play equipment before letting children use it to make sure it is in good repair and age appropriate.
  • Check the cushioning material under the equipment look to see if it is worn or pushed away from the fall zone.

With a little preplanning and attention, a day at the playground will provide healthy activity and good memories!
