Meet award-winning author Maria Speck for a discussion and demo of preparing ancient grains.

Maria makes cooking with grains faster, more intuitive, and easier than ever with recipes that are family-friendly, Mediterranean-inspired and delicious.

Join the Culinary Guild and Slow Food Boston for an evening with Maria Speck, the grain guru. Maria is the award winning author of the new Simply Ancient Grains and is also known for her first cookbook, Ancient Grains for Modern Meals, which won multiple awards, among them the Julia Child Award. Maria will discuss the history, nutritional value, and gluten issues of grains and will also delve into practical cooking tips of ancient grains as well as the newer kids on the block such as einkorn, emmer, spelt, and kamut.

Following this talk, Maria will show us how easy it is to prepare a tasty grain dish and will discuss two additional dishes, before we all enjoy a tasting.
