Ben's Buzz:

April 15, 2015

Dear BFCCPS Community,

This week our 7th graders headed to Quebec and 8th graders are visiting Washington DC, it's been exciting to follow their adventures on Twitter, and we look forward to hearing all about it upon their return.

Students in our second grade classes had a morning at the Stadium Theater on to see the Mr. Molecule's Bing, Bang, Boom Science Show on Tuesday.

Today our Grade Four students are visiting the Museum of Science and Grade Three visited the seniors at Forge Hill. It has been a busy few days to say the very least!

This week, I was joined by two students for their Head of School Half Day experience.

You'll see Bella sending off the Grade Two field trip in the header of today's newsletter, and Haasini joined me on Wednesday afternoon. You can read more about Bella and Haasini's adventures on the Head of School Blog here.

This Friday, students in grades 5 and 6 will be participating in the Science Fair. The event will be held from 1:15 to 2:45 and if your schedule permits, we hope to see you there!

I wish you all a wonderful April Vacation!  We look forward to seeing everyone after what is hopefully a restful, warm, and sunny week off!

Sincerely,

Heather Zolnowski
Head of School

Spelling Bee:  For the 6th year in a row, BFCCPS will be holding a Spelling Bee in order to provide an educational and fun opportunity for students looking for an academic challenge. This year, Massachusetts did not hold a Regional Spelling Bee, so as a result, this year's BFCCPS winner will not be eligible to advance in the National Spelling Bee.

Board of Trustees:

The Board of Trustees is looking for interested members of our community to serve. The BFCCPS Board of Trustees is the governing body of the school and custodian of the school's mission.

Comprised of parents, teachers and community members with a variety of skills, the Board of Trustees oversees the school's adherence to the mission, and the financial health of the school. The Board of Trustees is also responsible for strategic planning, which includes creating shared goals and objectives for school improvement, and developing and maintaining its policies.

All parents are encouraged to consider nominating themselves and/or other parents or community members who they think would be effective board members. It is helpful, but not necessary, if nominees have been active in the school community and/or possess specific skills that enhance the board such as finance, all aspects of facilities development, project management, human resources, public relations or other governing board experience.

Please send inquiries to: Sagar Kamarthi at [email protected] by May 31.

 Parent Community Organization:

2015-2016 PCO Board Nominations are now open and we are also in need of a few co-chairs for Fall 2015 committees.  Please read more in The Spring PCO Newsletter which can be found here and will be sent home via backpacks as well.
