Hi Everyone- There was an update recently released that clarified the timing of how the College Board is rolling out the changes to the SAT for next year and I wanted to share this news. There has been some confusing information in the past about the timing and this seems to be the definitive word on it that I will go by from now on. Previously, the communications I had read/heard said that the PSAT in October would be the first test to change to the new format and then all future SAT tests would follow with the new format. (That was even my understanding after attending a Collegeboard conference on this subject last year.) However, it has been clarified that the changes to the PSAT will still take place in October, as planned, but that the new SAT format will not be in place until the March 2016 test date. That means, the test dates for the SAT between now and March 2016 will use the current SAT format. This timing is probably to allow current juniors who want to take the SAT one or two more times next fall as they apply to college to be able to stick with the format they already know. That way, they aren't caught in the middle of the transition. Good plan. So, juniors, if you prefer the SAT over the ACT and want to boost your SAT scores one more time next fall without facing a whole redesigned test, you're in good shape! Use your current prep material throughout the summer and it should serve you well. I hope you find this information helpful!
