Dear Friend,
This was yet another tough month for human rights both in the U.S and globally. Anti-Muslim sentiments and violations of Muslims' civil rights continue growing in the U.S. Ignorance of Islam and the American Constitution have resulted in dangerous incidents of bigotry and discrimination in schools, workplaces and communities across the country.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Muslims' religious freedom continues to be violated. Some European countries still do not recognize Islamic marriages and place restrictions on religious symbols and attire. Unfortunately, more tragic religious freedom abuses arised with the current refugee crisis and the reluctance of some European countries to protect Muslim refugees.
We at KARAMAH are resolved more than ever to continue fighting for universal human rights and to ensure that all people regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity or religion enjoy their God-given dignity. Because human rights' violations can happen within families too, this October, we are hosting our
Love Like the Prophet Series to learn from the prophetic model of relationships and end the cycle of abuse. Join us! Your voice is very valuable to us!

Would You Celebrate your Birthday with a Refugee Family?
KARAMAH friend and supporter, Mariam Mehter, did just that! For many years, Mariam has worked to elevate the stories and plight of the Rohingya. For the last several months, she worked diligently to raise funds for a particular Rohingya refugee family that is currently living in Malaysia. This month, on her birthday, Mariam decided to celebrate in a very special way. She traveled to Malaysia and met with the family to inform them of her
LaunchGood campaign and to offer them guidance on how to proceed with the donations.

Domestic Violence Through the Lens
of Marginalized Communities
Join KARAMAH on November 6th, 2015, for a day-long training presented in Collaboration with the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence. Participants will receive tips and skills to improve your ability to serve a diverse population of survivors, including development of services that encourage and support individual survivor's particular, personal culture.
