Tri-County High School Exhibition

This exhibition will feature approximately 80 artworks created by high school students from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. At the opening reception, seven awards will be given to students for their outstanding artworks. The awards will include First Place, Second Place, Third Place, Teacher Award, and three Honorable Mentions.

N'Namdi Center for Contemporary Art     
The Americas are turned upside down in this multi-media tableaux embracing the revolutionary spirit of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Curated by Vito Jesus Valdez and featuring a variety of work by local and national artists Diana Alva, Kia I. Arriaga, Graciela Bustos, Fernando Calderon, Alvaro Jurado, Mary Laredo, Erin Martinez, Monte Martinez, Nora Chapa Mendoza, Azucena Nava Moreno, Mel Rosas, Vito Jesus Valdez and S. Kay Young.

Work Gallery Ann Arbor      

Three visual music installations by Jane Cassidy, a New Orleans based multi-media artist from Galway, Ireland. Square Ball and Purple tinged pearl buttoned bangled-billy are works for stereo sound, video projector, and fog machine; They Upped Their Game After The Oranges employs stereo sound and projection mapping onto a corner.

Penny W. Stamps Speaker Series, Michigan Theatre

Through a variety of mediums, including painting, film/video, performance, and installation, Kent Monkman explores themes of colonization, sexuality, loss, and resilience - the complexities of historic and contemporary Native American experience.

Marlene Boll Theatre at Boll Family YMCA

Michigan filmmaker Chris-Teena Constas will be showing her powerful documentary, Jane of All Trades, which follows the Michigan film industry during a time of opportunity and hope. This screening is part of the Man in the City Film Series hosted by Y Arts Detroit in partnership with Michigan artist John Sauve. All proceeds from the event will support Y Arts in Detroit.
