Evaluation and Community Development Support
June-August 2015
Role:
Working as part of the CommunityWise Staff Collective (SC), the successful candidate will take a lead role in the planning and implementation of CommunityWise's 2015 Member Survey. They will also assist with CommunityWise's community development and collaborative efforts with member organizations, and perform ongoing administrative duties as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership
- participate with the Staff Collective (SC) in supporting and enhancing the ongoing Theory of Change and strategic planning of CommunityWise.
- foster effective teamwork between co-workers, community participants, members and tenants with strategies to animate shared space and create innovative opportunities for collaboration.
Evaluation
Take the lead role in planning and implementing CommunityWise's 2015 Member Survey:
- review results and recommendations from pilot survey report and make changes to Member Survey as required
- develop and implement an outreach and engagement plan to ensure survey participation by CommunityWise members
- analyze data
- create final report to be distributed amongst the CommunityWise membership and the wider community
Community Development
Assist with efforts to facilitate community connections within the CommunityWise membership and with the wider community:
- attend CommunityWise Programming Committee meetings
- participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CommunityWise programming (e.g. backyard garden programming; Lunchtime Learning sessions; Burnout Prevention League)
Administrative
Assist with the daily administrative functioning of the CommunityWise Resource Centre:
- member support (member bookings; walk-in and phone inquiries)
- perform mail distribution
- contribute to communications (newsletters; social media)
- take minutes during meetings
- compile reports
- update key documents
- other emergent tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- education in a related discipline (social work; community development; development studies; research & evaluation; urban studies; sociology; anthropology; human geography; communications)
- understanding of core community development concepts
- experience with community-based projects
- interest in working within consensus-based, collective organizational models
- grasp of anti-oppressive practice
- genuine concern, respect, and commitment toward individuals and community
- comfortable working in both self-directed and team environments
- demonstrates flexibility in organizing work
- able to take initiative
- excellent interpersonal skills
- proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- can work some evenings and weekends when required for special events and other programming
Requirements:
*As this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- have been registered as a full-time student during the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis for the upcoming academic year
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
