Administered Oath of Office to newly elected board members: James S. Bettersworth, District 3 Board Member, and Sherry G. Bettersworth, District 5 Board Member. Both were sworn in for a three-year term through 2018.

One-year Food Service Management Contract with ARAMARK for the 2015-2016 school year. This contract will be paid by the Food Service Fund with revenues received from cash sales to students and others, catering charges, and from Federal Child Nutrition reimbursement revenue. No local tax revenues are expected to be used to support food services operations.

Increase in the Paid Full Price Lunch Meal for 2015-2016 by $0.10 to the following prices: $2.45 elementary student lunch; $2.70 secondary student lunch; $1.35 student breakfast at all campus; $2.00 adult breakfast; and $3.35 adult lunch.

2014-2015 General Fund Budget Amendment to cover costs for purchase of greenhouse, staff training and other campus expenses.

Renewal of Workers' Compensation Insurance Coverage with the Texas Association of School Board's Risk Management Fund for the period of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

Addition of three (3) full-time Assistant Principals for 2015-2016 School Year at Lone Star Elementary, the NBHS Ninth Grade Center and changing split half-time positions at Memorial Elementary and Klein Road Elementary into two full-time positions. Funding will be provided through the 2015-2016 budget.

Contract with Communities in School services for 2015-2016 to include three full-time CIS social workers at the cost of $91,500.00 for services rendered from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016. These social workers will be assigned and housed at New Braunfels High School, New Braunfels Middle School and Oak Run Middle School.

Depository contract for 2015-2017 with Wells Fargo Bank Texas N.A. This two-year contract extension will begin July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2017.

Purchase of 250 elementary computers for a total of $283,812.50. The computers will be purchased from Apple and paid for with committed technology fund balance.

  • Executive Director of Finance and Operations Steve Brown reported on the extension of the printing services contract with JC Pollock, Office Depot and Atwood Printing, acquired through the Printing Service bid 004-0614PS. All three vendors have agreed to a one-year contract extension from June 16, 2015, through June 15, 2016.
  • Director of Student Services Clay Gillentine presented an update on the 2014-2015 School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC).
  • Director of Student Services Clay Gillentine presented a copy of the 2014-2015 Community and Student Engagement District and Campus Evaluations.
  • Executive Director of Technology Matt Jones presented the monthly TEC21 Report to the Board.
  • Appointment of personnel for the 2014-2015 school year:
    • Lupita Miles, Coordinator of ELL Programs, Education Center
  • NBISD Facilities Planning Committee Chairperson Rob Johnson presented a recommendation to the board on behalf of the committee. This recommendation included $62M in projects that could be considered for a November 2015 bond election.
