Every year, millions of Americans suffer the effects of disasters like hurricanes and other weather-related and man-made events. On March 13, 2012, the White House announced an innovative partnership to enhance the federal government's disaster capabilities. The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) now dedicated a unit of 1,600 service corps members who focus on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Quote of the Week

"It was very nice to meet you last week when you came to my home to address the issue with the street light and the high grass. I was very impressed with how quick you came to look into it, and I am confident you will get somewhere with Duke Energy, where I could not."
Thank you and Regards,

Debra Faust, on her experience with the Mayor's Action Center and the City of St. Petersburg
