SUPPORT THE HOSTOS TWO-GENERATION
STUDENT RETENTION AND
DEGREE ACCELERATION PROGRAM

Thanks to a grant from The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation and a contribution from the estate of Frank Denny, Hostos will continue its successful " Two-Generation Student Retention and Degree Acceleration Program" this summer.

Launched in 2014 through a grant from the Aspen Institute's Ascend Fund, the program helps student-parents accelerate their higher education through one free Hostos summer course and free enrollment for up to two of their school-aged children in the Hostos' College for Kids Summer Academy.

"100 LAWYERS STRONG" EVENT SHOWS
THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIPS

Hostos students and alumni were treated to professional attire thanks to the 100 Lawyers Strong o rganization and the work of the Hostos Career Services Office and Green Tree Textiles.

Organized by Hostos Employment Coordinator Idelsa Méndez, the event, "100 Lawyers Strong - Suited for Success," was held on April 15 at the Hotel Indigo Rooftop Bar in Manhattan.

HOSTOS REMAINS A LEADER IN
DIGITAL EDUCATION

For the sixth straight year, Hostos Community College has been selected as one of the Top 10 Digital Community Colleges in the nation by the Center for Digital Education.

This year, Hostos finished No. 2 overall, which is the highest the College has finished.

HOSTOS RECEIVES GRANT FROM NEW YORK COMMUNITY TRUST TO SUPPORT
CENTER FOR BRONX NONPROFITS

In April, 2015, Eugenio María de Hostos Community College (CUNY) received a $120,000 from the New York Community Trust to strengthen the capacity of Hostos' Center for Bronx Nonprofits (CBNP).

Since launching in 2012, with collaborative support from the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and initial funding from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation and the New York Community Trust, the CBNP has played a key role in supporting Bronx-based community leaders and nonprofit organizations strengthen their capacity to serve their missions and constituencies.

HOSTOS UNVEILS SPECIAL STUDENT EXHIBIT
AIMED AT WOMEN'S HEALTH
AND HEALTH DISPARITIES

Nine socially conscious Hostos students took a look in the mirror, then turned it toward the outside world as they explored women's health issues as part of a "participatory action research project." This socially conscious experiment, or "PAR," was then turned into a unique exhibit of photos and text, which will be on display at Hostos Community College from May 5 through May 22.

TERRANCE "SADDIQ" MCSWEEN WAS A HIT!

In 2012, Hostos launched Its Alumni Speakers Bureau to reconnect graduates with the college through public speaking events. These motivational speeches have been particularly successful In showing students what can be accomplished with a college degree.
