Multi-Modal Transportation Board (MMTB) Meeting Summary

On March 5, 2015, the Multi-Modal Transportation Board ("MMTB") continued discussion on the upcoming capital improvement project to resurface W. Maple Road between Southfield and Cranbrook.  A memo was included in the MMTB agenda packet to update the MMTB on the Steering Committee's last meeting held on February 26, 2015, and to provide the MMTB with copies of all of the data reviewed by the Steering Committee.  Staff advised the MMTB that at the Steering Committee meeting Mr. Labadie, Transportation Engineer, conducted a presentation to review the findings regarding existing conditions along the W. Maple Rd. corridor.  Mr. Labadie reviewed and explained all data collected including traffic counts, vehicular levels of service, sight distance hazards, speed studies, crash data and traffic simulation utilizing the SYNCHRO model.   Staff advised that Mr. Labadie then described the complete street/multi-modal design tools that are available for study to address the concerns noted by the Steering Committee and the public regarding the W. Maple Rd. corridor.

The next steering committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 6 p.m.  The steering committee will continue to meet once per month, in between each regularly scheduled MMTB meeting, with the expectation that its job will be completed in April or May.  The next Multi-Modal Transportation Board meeting will take place on Thursday, April 9 at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Building.  For additional information on the Multi-Modal Board's meetings visit www.bhamgov.org.
