In honor of Black History Month, Andy Shallal, owner of D.C.'s world famous Busboys and Poets, will host the One-Year Anniversary and Fundraiser for the "Black Broadway on U: Transmedia Project" at the Grand Opening of the Brookland location's Pearl Bailey Room. The evening reception includes light fare and a special "LIVE" performance with Ms. Pearl Bailey, a Black Broadway icon featuring Helen Hayes Award-winning actress Roz White

Proceeds from the evening will support the Black Broadway on U: Transmedia Project, the creation of Executive Producer/Creator and third generation Washingtonian, Shell�e Haynesworth. Her vision for this multi-platform "digital history book" project includes a 3-part documentary series, interactive website with immersive user experiences, short web documentaries, special events, and mobile app, highlighting the under-told stories about the neighborhood elders, community stakeholders, intellectuals and entertainers of D.C.'s Black Broadway on U Street era before Harlem.
