Happy New Year!

The WTS NC Triangle Chapter kicked off the year with its annual planning retreat, and we are excited to share our new 2015 membership programs!  This year, our chapter will cover 15% of a NEW membership fee as long as the member signs up and pays at one of our events. The new member will also receive one of our coveted Lands End navy WTS fleeces. Additionally, while we will be continuing our membership appreciation events from last year, we will also offer some members-only programs. The first event of the year, the Scholarship Luncheon, is coming up in February, so consider signing up for membership at that time in order to get access to these great programs.

Our chapter also will continue to bring the great programs that everyone expects over the next year - the technical luncheons, the breakfast series, and of course, the Go Gala in May. So, check our website for our latest events, and we hope to see you at the next event in 2015!

Upcoming Events
Please join the WTS NC Triangle Chapter to award this year's scholarships at the chapter's annual Scholarship Luncheon at noon on Feb. 26 at the City Club Raleigh (formerly the Cardinal Club). Read about the scholarship winners here. Guest speaker Susan Pullium, NCDOT Director of Strategic Planning, will discuss the governor's 25-year vision for North Carolina.
WTS NC Triangle Chapter is collaborating with NCDOT on "Introduce a Girl to Engineering" Day as part of National Engineers Week. This year's event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at the NCDOT Statewide Transportation Operations Center. If you're interested in volunteering, click the link below for more information.
The chapter's next Transportation YOU event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 19 at the ITRE building on NC State's Centennial Campus. This is WTS' mentoring program for middle- and high-school-aged girls. A special guest speaker will make a presentation, and the girls will participate in a fun activity. In Case You Missed It...
2015 Chapter Planning Retreat
Board members and some officers from the WTS NC Triangle Chapter met for a planning retreat in January to prepare for the upcoming year and develop the chapter's programs. Keep checking this space for information about the upcoming programs and events this year.
New Membership Incentive
This year, new WTS members who fill out a membership form and pay the membership fee at a NC Triangle chapter event, such as a luncheon, breakfast or Transportation YOU event, will receive 15 percent off of their membership cost, as well as a WTS fleece. There are many benefits to being a member of WTS, so if you're thinking about joining, this is a great year to do it.
Professional Connections
For members looking for networking opportunities within the Chapter, consider joining the Professional Connections program. Each quarter, the members of the program are split into groups of four or five, and each group plans a lunch meeting. This is a good way to meet others and learn about their careers, hobbies and interests. For more information, or to sign up, contact Karen Reynolds.
