St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman performed an historic wedding ceremony for two residents - Dr. Bob Wallace and JoJo Riebel Wallace -- on the steps inside City Hall.

 

The Sunshine City is a city of opportunity where the sun shines on all who come to live, work and play -- including the LGBTQ population.

In ways large and small, St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman steered the city in a positive direction in his first year in office. Several festering issues such as red-light cameras and curbside recycling have been resolved. Progressive new initiatives have been launched inside and outside City Hall, and better relationships have been cultivated from the state capital to the county courthouse. Kriseman has established a solid foundation for an administration that blends attention to detail with long-term vision, but the trajectory of his first term could be decided this year by how the baseball stadium stalemate and plans for a new pier play out.

ABC Action News: Wedding ceremony held inside City Hall

 

Of all the same-sex marriages happening in Florida for the first time, only one took place inside the St. Petersburg City Hall.

 

The wedding was even officiated by Mayor Rick Kriseman himself.
 
 

Kriseman officiated the wedding of Dr. Bob Wallace and JoJo Wallace at 2:30 p.m. inside the City Hall lobby.

St. Petersburg Tribune: St. Pete mayor talks Rays, pier at political forum

 

Mayor Rick Kriseman came prepared for a grilling about the future of negotiations with the Tampa Bay Rays at a Thursday political forum.


 

While members of the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club and even a City Council member asked the mayor some pointed questions about last month's failed deal to let the team search for a new stadium site, Kriseman offered few specifics about what his next move might be.

The Center for Public Integrity: 'Zombie' homes get facelift after Center report

 

Wells Fargo & Co. has been improving dozens of abandoned properties in St. Petersburg, Florida, that had fallen into disrepair after the lender foreclosed on loans tied to the homes.

 

The San Francisco-based bank has been working with city officials to fix up the ailing properties after a Center for Public Integrity report in September showed how the derelict homes have hurt neighborhoods in some hard-hit cities.

QR codes are trending in St. Pete. You'll see them on the front doors of local attractions and historic buildings. They are there, so you can scan them and learn instantly what you need to know about that spot. Like a virtual tour.

 

Before when you wanted to know more about a city you usually go online or grab a map and go explore. Now, there's a new way to do it in St. Pete thanks to 'Scan St. Pete.'
