As I sit here looking out my window at the rain, it made me think of the news on TV this morning.  The Midwest was again hit by nasty tornados and snow storms.  The gulf states are always bracing for hurricane season, and the southwest is in the middle of a 4 year drought.

Just want to wake everyone up and remind them how great we have it here.

5 LEAKY TIME BOMBS WAITING TO FLOOD YOUR HOME 

 
 
1     HOT WATER HEATER
 
About 75% of tank water heaters fail by the time they're 12 years old.
70% of water heater failures are from leaks or burst tanks.
Average damage is $4,000.
 
2     DISHWASHER
 
Dishwashers usually fail when they are 10-12 years old.
Flooding damage from a dishwasher leak can be more than $5,000.
 
3     REFRIGERATOR
 
Icemakers are the primary cause for water leaks in a refrigerator.
The life expectancy of an icemaker is less than that of the refrigerator, as low as 5 years.
 
4     WASHING MACHINE
 
More than half of all water damage is due to broken washing machine hoses.
Damages average more than $6,000.

The first "Bend Marathon" provided us an opportunity to volunteer.

Last April 26th was the first Bend Marathon.  As part of our effort with the American Cancer Society and "Relay for Life", our staff volunteered to man one of the Aid Stations for the first ever Bend Marathon. 

 

The weather was clear but cold, not too bad for running, and we were all happy it didn't snow.

 

We were stationed at the 22 mile mark.  4 miles to go, and the runners were so happy to see us.  Sports drinks, water, Picky Bars, and Gummy Bears were all available for the 300 plus runners in the marathon.
