April 2015 Residential Real Estate Market Report
New Listings are up in Madison, Yazoo, Scott, Copiah & Leake Counties

Home Sales for the first quarter of 2015 show a total of 978 total closings for Hinds, Madison and Rankin Counties. The total volume of those sales was $177,099,174 indicating a 7.92 percent increase over the same time last year. Average prices were also up by 8.3 percent at $181,083.
 As the second quarter commences we see a significant number of new listings emerge in Madison, Scott, Yazoo, Copiah and Leake Counties as expected in most markets across the U.S. This time of year traditionally offers the most attractive inventories as sellers polish up for spring buyers. In April, New Listings increased by 13.2 percent in Madison reaching 765. At the same time, Hinds and Rankin both saw a decrease. New Listings in Hinds Co. dropped by 6.1 percent to 990 units and New Listings in Rankin Co. dropped to 860 down by 6.7 percent. Nationally homeownership percentages are the lowest since 1993 while rental prices continue to accelerate price growth.
