From the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce

Dear Members,
Kelli Freeman

On Monday, May 25th our nation will celebrate Memorial Day. The last Monday in May is officially known as Memorial Day and is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce will be closed on Monday in observance of this Memorial Day Holiday and we hope all of our members will take a moment to remember those who have died in service to our country.

On Friday, May 15th I was honored to attend the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony at the Delray Beach Police Department, which honored the two Delray Beach Police Officers who have died in the line of duty, Sergeant Adam G. Rosenthal and Officer John D. Kennedy. It was a very touching ceremony and one that reiterated the fact that the first responders that serve our City and our Nation risk their lives every day and we should be forever grateful for their service.

On behalf of the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce, we would like to thank all the men and women who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice, and those who continue to serve.

Overview of May's Government Affairs Meeting

The Chamber would like to thank our panelists who spoke at last week's Government Affairs meeting:

John Lehman - President Florida Association of Recovery Residences
Jeffrey Lynne - Weiner, Lynne & Thompson
Suzanne Spencer - Executive Director, Delray Beach Drug Task Force
Alton Taylor - Executive Director & CEO, Drug Abuse Foundation

Each of these industry experts shared a great deal of information about the recovery community and initiatives that are underway in Delray Beach to help those in recovery, while maintaining the quality of life for all residents in our area. The Chamber is proud to partner with the Delray Beach Drug Task Force and the Delray Beach Police Department to promote the positive results being achieved through the efforts of so many and to continue the dialogue in our community.
