New International Arrivals Process Saves Travelers Time, Hassle

New Process Eliminates Additional Security Screening

International passengers returning home to Pittsburgh now have a new perk at PIT - they don't have to clear security again to leave the facility.

CEO Christina Cassotis made it a top priority to change the re-entry procedure for international arriving passengers to allow them to avoid being screened by security twice. The upgrade coincided with the start of Delta's nonstop service from Paris to Pittsburgh on May 11.

"This was an important upgrade for international passengers, and we're thrilled to offer the new service for our customers," Cassotis said. "Pittsburgh International Airport is a world-class facility. This is another example of the great services available here."

The new procedure includes all international arrivals, including Punta Cana and Cancun.

Previously, after clearing customs passengers were required to go through security before entering the Airside Terminal. As part of the solution, airport crews constructed a barrier and temporary walls, and airport employees helped guide passengers through the new process.
