Staff Changes

On behalf of the Tufts Health Plan Foundation, we would like to bid a heartfelt farewell to our colleague and friend Kayla Romanelli. During her four years with the Foundation, Kayla has demonstrated great commitment, creativity and devotion to the work and she will be sorely missed. Kayla will be working with Santander Bank as the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Manager. Our loss is their gain.

We are happy to also announce that Caite O'Brien will focus solely on our grantmaking and leave her administrative duties. If you know of anyone interested in supporting the Foundation as an executive assistant, please ask them to be in touch. We will be working with a Temp until we find a replacement for Caite.

Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions or ideas on candidates.

Sincerely,

Nora Moreno Cargie

President

June 2015
Policy and Advocacy Cycle Open

The Foundation is accepting Letters of Intent for our Policy and Advocacy cycle of community investments. The deadline for applications is Monday, July 20, 2015 at 4 p.m. EDT. Upon review, select applicants will be invited to submit full proposals by Monday, September 21, 2015. If awarded, grants will run from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

To build healthy and age-friendly communities, engaging in policy and advocacy are essential strategies. The Foundation is looking for ideas that will move communities toward a comprehensive approach to community development that includes "domains" or arenas reflected in the WHO model for creating age-friendly communities. This may include supporting efforts that champion communities as they improve the quality of life for all citizens across the lifespan.

We will also accept applications for the Foundation President's Leadership Fund, which is designed to support community leaders in their work with multiple stakeholders toward a common community goal.

For more information about this cycle of community investing, see our press release or Apply Now.

The Tufts Health Plan Foundation is pleased to sponsor The Older Driver Safety Summit on June 16, 2015.

Hosted by the Gerontology Institute at the University of Massachusetts Boston, the summit will create a five-year blueprint to reduce crashes and improve safety across the Commonwealth. Workshops will address a variety of pressing issues related to older driver safe mobility, including roadway infrastructure improvements, education, alternative options for transportation, policy and research, medical issues, driver assessment, reporting procedures, and the psychological issues surrounding a loss of mobility.

As part of a panel on innovation, Foundation President Nora Moreno Cargie will discuss how corporate and philanthropic partners can support innovative policy developments.
